Life is so unfair
Yet it is beautiful
Chance is so unkind
Yet it still gives choices

Life is still the one you make
Through your choices
With faith
For without faith, nothing will happen
Because even if life is unfair
God is always fair to us

Faith, not fear---AL

If I held out my hand
would you take it ?
it's warmth ready to permeate your soul
but what would it tell you of me ?
the scar on my finger
the wrinkling skin
the crooked pinkie
the gnarl on my thumb
stories to be told
if you would only take hold.

A piece of you
Reflecting back
The bitter words in your mouth
Too raw to speak
A poet is
Someone in pain
And someone in love
Someone who looks at the world
Through a kaleidoscope
Who takes a magnifying glass to each
And every
Word you say
And lets them imprint on their heart
A poet is
A star gazer
A dreamer
A chaser of
The improbable
But hopes anyway
A poet is
Tissue paper skin
A heart of glass
And a soul of titanium

A poet is
A sharp tongue
And a gentle kiss
She is a sob
He is a sigh
A poet is
The sun at midnight
Bright and
Burning
Hot
Alive
But cloaked in a darkness
They cannot shake
The brightest day
And the darkest night
A poet is
The human experience
A paradox
An oxymoron
So complicatedly
Simple

A poet is
A lover
Who refuses
To stop wearing their heart on their sleeve
No matter how much it bleeds
But rolls them up
So you can’t see
The blood stains

A poet
Is Poetry

1** ~   Figure out what you want,
learn to ask for it. Nobody
                      can read your mind.

2 ~    Nobody will love you the
                      way you imagined.

3 ~     Life does not come
                       with a reboot option.

4 ~     People are not covered
                       under manufacturer's warranty.

5 ~     Everything comes with a
                       shelf life, including
                       relationships.

6 ~    Nothing is permanent.
                       Nothing comes free.
                       Why pay for temporary
                        illusions.

7 ~      Even if they hate you.
                        At least they tried.

8 ~      You only live once
                         till you die once.

9 ~       Make happiness a
                         compulsion. Don't let
                         sorrow choose you.

10 ~    Sometimes lose everything.
                         You realize your worth.

The stars seem brighter when I think about you
When we kiss the way we kiss and love the way only we love
Together, for infinite moments consisting of nothing but us
The way we bind like welded metallic
And we always stay this way
Though seldom at times we drift, the polarity of our love connects no matter how long the split

Time has no name, a faceless clock keeps track
Because this attraction is eternal
The stars seem brighter when I think of our intimacy
When the images of our hands held tenderly on my lap appear
Never once would I think of anything else given the option, nothing is more pleasing to think about
The eternity of the moment never ceases to amaze, I feel resolved and inspired by your lovely, touching gaze

The stars seem closer while I close my eyes near you. I touch them with my fingers and you kiss my cheek
Rubbing my back with the compassionate palm of your hand
Watching these stars become infinitely closer, so near I taste their pronounced flavor with my tongue
And I whisper into your ear canal carefully the words I want to say but cannot speak

These stars, an infinity away, are tangible with you
Just as anything is possible in this moment
In every moment I lie next to you
When you lay next to me
While my tongue longs to be intertwined, because it makes the moment stronger
And I want to tell you about these stars

So let me begin again...

For infinity

I hate to write poetry
Because every one I write is about you,
Because every thought is about you,
Because you make me sad.

I love to write poetry
Because every one I write is about you,
Because every thought is about you,
Because you made me happy.

But did you know that every hushed slip of lips,
Every lust swept memory,
Every clouded sky daydream
Is nothing but you?

And did you know that my car seat is unbearable to sit on,
"Time Machine" is no longer listened to,
In fact every song
Is tainted like rotting flesh.

Even this poem,
Yes,
Is undeniably about you.
And so will be the rest of them
In eons,
In millions of words,
In kilometers.

       I hate to write poetry
       Because I love you.

       I love to write poetry
       Because you loved me.

Each word is swirling as do fingers following lines on conch shells.
To the base? Or to the tip?
Either winds hypnotically in a march.
This march causes chemical reactions.
Vibrations onto vibrations onto signals onto receptions.
Hormones cause smiles and smiles cause divinity.
Letters are inhaled piece by piece.
Each bead on this string slips down onto the tongues of inquirers and splashes like water drops-
That is me. My tongue moistened by licks of fascination.
Yes, I'm the one in the corner with my hand perched kinetically around my ballpoint. The index finger pre-moistened.
It aches for the page flip it deserves.
I'm the one wishing for pages to be filled, and each breath draws inspiration from all corners.
I reach for each word at full stretch.
The ones meant to be caught will give in, and the inspiration will bloom.
The ones not yet ripe will cling to their buds as do infant marsupials to cautious mothers.
Someday they will come to me with open hearts. I will find them when Time finds it necessary.
But this will only occur if the pen wills it so,
If the divinity follows the smile,
If the hormones initiate the happiness,
If the signals are administered by the brain,
If the brain understands the vibrations,
If the words create the disturbance that forces the writer to write.

She put her ears up in a
perky
quirky manner,
and smiled with a full tongue out at the purple clouds cast against the salmon sun.

Finally, we had found something in common.

We sweat and gasped together, but we felt beautiful together.
And I scratched the exact spot on each side of your face simultaneously
which cripples you momentarily as you fall over in excitement just to hear me say one consonant.

And for the two seconds we gazed, the leash in my hand became more than vinyl weave.
It was a connection we didn't understand, something money doesn't own, and something God never created.

We were us.

But peaceful bliss dies as quickly as the squirrel she smells,
had the leash not been wrapped around my blood-thirsty, suffocating forearm.
So back down the stairs we walk (run) as her smile tightens and mine fades like the pigment of my arm's skin.

I had a *** dream about you last night.
You loved me
Plucked my petals gently,
Tenderly,
Caressed each single leaf and fiber of my stem
Like you've never nurtured such a flower before.
We made love like tomorrow would never exist,
We cried because we both knew it wasn't real,
We held each other in nakedness through laughter and tears
And we hushed each other's sobs
Because we knew it was too perfect to wake up to,
Because I knew opening my eyes would redress myself instantly,

Because *** with you will only ever be in my dreams.

Reality's always been a *****, but after seeing you naked I want to live behind drawn blinds and ******* myself into thinking
We
Can
Be.
Dreams just **** sometimes..

Imploded due to devices
Of its own making.
