Perhaps a stone throw away

Time has passed and it won't be returning

A ring around my finger, my children lying in bed
From being a teenager, I am now that parent I once dread
Everything is changing. But there is one solid ground.
To have you by my side, to ease uncertainty's subtle pound.

Pull me down when my heart's soaring in fear
Stand your ground when uncertainty is so clear
Pray hard when you feel that everything is changing fast.
Then pause. Look around. Everything is changing. Fast.

My son always surprises me...
and is way more brilliant
than I ever was... especially at that age.
Out of nowhere the other night he says
"You know we are all connected" and I say
"How do you mean?"
I can see the wheel just a turning in his pretty
little head and he says "we are related...all brothers
and sisters in this world." I agree with him and say "so
why do you think everyone fights so much?" and
without missing a beat he says "because they haven't
figured it out yet" <3

Curled against me at any time of day
Stronger than iron, we are one

My son pitches himself against me
In every way, last gasp,

Puberty can’t be avoided
It will end the innocence of

Desperate devotion between us
As it always has been meant to do

Pain, such cleaving pain,
I reject it for now

To devour him

On this lovely September morn
It's time for congratulations
Into this world a child is born
Lets raise a glass in celebration.

He starts his world with lulabbys
Parents are there with a guiding hand
To help to see that he gets by
Untill on his own he can make a stand.

But that is many years away
No need to think so far ahead
All that matters is this lovely day
As mother is resting in her bed.

But tomorrow will be another day
With his first steps on life's road
A world that that will be full of play
The future no one knows.

So let's take in this special time
Where all the family gather round
Mother and newborn are doing fine
She smiles when hearing his very first sound.
