I remember the prisoning
(they called it education)

while Summers slipped slowly by
(our lives slipping away)

I remember the escaping
(we had finally done our time)

we never looked back
(but took our scars with us)
it was an awful school
A gazillion
tiny shinny stars
glimmer above my head tonight,

Destroying the darkness,
are these magical sprinkles
that will glow long into the night.

An infinite canopy
of mysterious beams,

More beautiful than any night sky
I have ever seen in my dreams.

Each star a magnificent spectacle;
a brilliant bright light,

These shinny stars illuminate
what would have been
a very dark overwhelming night.

Each star in the night sky
appears to be
within my reach--such an exceptional,
gorgeous night,
I feel compelled to fix my eyes to it -
I zoom in and lock them in real tight!

I get lost
as I gaze into the pool of magical dust,
the kind of lost that makes me
never want to be found...
then, suddenly,
everything wrong
feels perfectly right!

I believe
that the universe and I
have telepathically
conversed tonight,

The conclusion to my epiphany,
my great revelation,
my realisation,
is...
that everything is going to plan
because the design
is now in my sight!

Spread your wings
And learn to fly high
Take control of your destiny
Just reach for the sky
Greatness is within you
Set the standard of excellence
Find your inner strength
Rise up and stay blessed

I dreamed that I knew you
But that was only a dream

I once met a man
In a pub full of gangstas and dealers
And fools like me
Who thrived on the adrenaline and the anarchy
This young man returned my buddy's keys
Not the place to leave them on the bar
So we got talking, as you would
And this young black guy was impressive
He was obviously intelligent and articulate
As straight forward and easy going
As the place allowed
We got on pretty well
Saw each other and said hi a few times
Chatted at the bar occasionally
Then I didn't see him for a while
Until I saw his picture in the papers
He had shot and killed a man
For machete-ing his younger brother
It just goes to show
We never really know

The human misery dept.
Is in full swing
Cold hearted and mean
Making people's lives feel miserable
As if they don't mean a thing.

Making it harder to go from here to there
More unreachable
More fearful
No compassion
No empathy
Nothing.

It's hard to get on
When the time has come
And not yet passed,

But time moves on and nothing is forever.

Better hold on.

Nuclear winds blow
And like the weather man said
The winds they blow everywhere

The human misery dept.'s busy
Maybe it always is
One of these days
We'll shut it down
And that'll be the way it is.

Laugh through the tears,
For life is short. Be
Quick to forgive, be
Slow to abort friendships built up
Through the years.
Be quick to forgive, and
Laugh through the tears.

Cry when you must,
For life isn’t fair. Be
Slow to give up, be
Quick to repair broken dreams built up
Through the years,
Cry when you must, but
Laugh through the tears.

Slow down, look around,
Life isn’t a race. Be
The best you can be,
Set your own pace, for life is a journey,
Which spans unknown years,
Slow down, look around, and
Laugh through the tears.

Trust in your faith,
Mortal life has an end. Be
Loving to family, always depend
On your friends; They’ll be with you,
When hope disappears.
Trust in your faith, and
Laugh through the tears.

I never got to love the girl
she spreads wide her rainbow net
where the sky plunges on crystal river
tides swell to hide her shame
ebb to fill her bag of catch

I never got to love the girl
her hairs in the wind
my dreams spawn
a flower rising from the riverbed
she grants a love in my head
spreads wide her rainbow net
thru the long night of blue moonshine
her frock fills up with sparkling life

I never got to love the girl
could no way be the right match.

Listen to the rain fall,
and, carefully,
unwrap the words that
sit in the air like
raindrops frozen in time,
move slowly,
move slowly into this,
there is no rush
greater than what can come
and, already,
what is.
The sparks of the worlds
in the words shared
ignite
the neurons
fire,
but slowly,
the lightening of the night sky,
and hours late
turns the mind aflame
with just a few
special
moments.
The thunderous clap of a
sharp wit and the ocean
blue that pours from
the sky
and into the
different subjects as
it is time, again,
to grow.
Upon re-reading this, I see that it seems to revolve around a topic that was only in the back of my mind when writing. I was actually writing about something else (it's up to you to figure out what) and only intended to interweave the (seemingly) primary subject intermittently, but that's not how it turned out. I suppose that's how it happens sometimes. In any case, thank you for reading!

Higher than a kite
Reaching for the light
Higher than even
in the dream light

Higher than exploding
into crystal shards
Reaching even higher

Higher, until awareness
clicks in

Higher than the last dance
Higher than the last romance

Higher than a galaxy
fading on its a way
Bye Bye

Still higher still,
Until
Another day
Another dog walk in the woods
behind the golf course.

I cry
not because
I feel alone
but because
I feel others
out there
not knowing
what to do

You say
you have good
to offer
please
come to
my window pane

I don't
need any chaos
like the
devil
who
stands on
my welcome mat

I'll await
that gentle rap
from you
on my
window
pane

I said
Baby, I've run out of words
All the old writers took the good ones

She said
I'm sorry, suga
They're such big selfish turds...

Why don't you post that one I like
You know, of cloudless climes and starry skies..

I said,
Baby, I can't plagiarize
Especially Lord Byron
He's a famous poet

She said,
*I know it, honeybun
But your old stuff's gittin' tirin'.
