Our first gale force winds are due this week
the first of this Autumn's real blow out's
everything will howl and shake as she sings
it will be thrilling, and a bit frightening all at once
your mind will dance, letting " Wow's" leave your lips
and you will feel snug and protected and wonder,
"will the roof and walls hold out"?

Night equals day equals night;
The march of hours pauses,
poised in tranquility
as the waning season cedes
to its successor -
with each passing day spinning
like a cosmic pirhouette
whirling about the solar axis.

The oracle of autumn
prophecies the coming snow and ice.
So we gather in our grain
and fire up a *** of tea
to share before the hearth.

The solstice descends upon us
as we burrow in with friends and kin.
But even as the frozen ground
crackles beneath our boots,
we trust the ever-whirling earth
to stretch the days once more
and raise spring flowers from their sleep.

Raindrops die on the windowpanes today;
each one now on its way to becoming an ocean.
Twilight has arrived , driving South into Clayton , Georgia from a day in the mountains of North Carolina . Driving through Cherokee , Soco Falls and Maggie Valley , rolling hills , peaks and valleys , like time itself , but just as beautiful as ever , and as I glance over at you , I treasure our days together for the Sun is setting fast indeed ,  for you and I .............

A trip to the one and only shop
six miles down the one and only coast road
is the furthest I go for many months.
This slow quiet hidden from the worst of the World island,
is the best place where its at and happening, for us who like it;
Many come to live here in the Summer months, a few last two or more winters.

It was summer's last days
along the trail
where the serpentine creek
murmurs and winds
beneath the limestone bridges.

Just beyond the bend
a weary stand of feed corn
awaits the harvester's blades.
An unexpected gust sets
the oaks and sycamores swaying
and a few desiccated leaves
skitter across the path -
harbingers of the impending fall.

In the brush along the trail,
newly morphed Monarchs
flit from purple thistles
to yellow star flowers like
a streak of airborne tigresses.
while honey bees,
cloaked in veils of pollen dust,
quench their thirst with
draughts of goldenrod nectar.

The autumnal equinox
looms just days ahead.
Shadows lengthen as summer sings
its final hymn to the setting sun.

Up
The tree of the sweetsop
I see
Raindrops
Sliding down...to the leaves
Of the Fortune tree
Drip-dropping,
Straight falling
Splashing
Down
The
Graveled garden

From up
The tree of the sweetsop
There's rain,
Dropping now on my hands
We are connecting
Feeling
The union of
Cold and warm
Tears from the sky touching my skin
Never, never to be lukewarm
Towards
A presence-
And in its absence
Persists a longing.
Crystal, silvery droplets
I try to capture inside my palms
I would drink them, if possible
Make them stay in my system
Never to depart from me
As long as i can,
Lest they drop and be
Scattered
Disintegrate
Like molecules
On the
Graveled garden.

Along the Valley
Of the Mississippi
Bluffs and Banks
Covered in trees
Whisper barely
In the Summers
Breeze,
Content to hang
In the Humidity
As Fall Comes
With Oranges
Yellows and Russets
The Rustle becomes
A Whisper from
Tree to tree, of
The Coming Soon
Wintery, they say
Their Goodbyes
With Soft Leafy
Sighs, and Promise
In the spring to meet
And for those not there
They will Morn the Passing
Bringing Blooms to their Graves

Early in the morning
blue skies of birdsong
winging in summer
singing sweet of dawn
awakened from dreaming
the day is unfolding with love
early in the morning with the sun
we are opening like blossoms at blue lily pond
no words spoken only reflection within
early in the morning with the sun
