Grace
in the rain I feel restored

you say,
walk out to the view with me before we go,

and I forget the drone of cities and am looking at it, with you
restoration is a slow and marvelous process

When it’s my turn to be reaped
- as I know it someday will be
- let my final, earthly verse be poetry.
Let the vast heavens weep,
may my wake not be cheap,
and peace be upon my coterie.

Stroll with me under the trees
to where the old road bends,
at the hanging sycamores
then walk away
beyond my sight
for I cannot follow
do not turn back,
you have many miles to go
and new companions to meet
I will wait here, in the shade
tired feet need to rest
visit me now and again
when the leaves fall
but only in memory
walk on

The sand swallowed your footsteps
Your voice carried away in the wind
The world grown different since you've gone
But I'll never forget you my friend

I may move on and I may grow
And you will stay the same
But I'll never loose your mark on me
No matter how the seasons change
Gone but not forgotten

2 Poets of the same ilk
Coming together, head-to-head
Knowing it's surely God's will
Setting to rhyme, what needs to be said

2 Poets in control of the pen
Easily slipping into the flow
Both with an idea here to lend
No telling in which direction they'll go

2 Poets with a strong bond
A chance meeting, out of the blue
Where magic happens, like waving a wand
You feeding off me, me feeding off you

2 Poets coming together
With a strong desire for the truth
A fact of the matter, friends forever
After all, it's what families do

I have a poet friend that has Cerebral Palsy I met on a site a few years back that I team up with when writing a lot of her ideas about what it's like going through life with her condition.  This past weekend on my way to visit family in North Carolina I made a side trip and was able to meet both her and her wonderful family which only helped to strengthen the bond we already have. She posts most of the poems herself, maybe I'll bring a few of them over here one day.

I don't know where I'm supposed to be
but I know where I'm posed to be
a solo diver floating free
flowing
with the open sea
embracing waves
embracing rain
embracing whirling winds of change
surrendering
to Heaven's gaze
soaking in the pearly rays
maybe

Spring you total ****
what goes with you
you promise much
teasing us with summer’s waiting arms
yet still you flirt with winter
and make us wait to sample all your green and airy charms
it just won’t wash, the rest of us have had about enough
I know you think it’s funny
now come on out and do your proper stuff
