White, black, green, and red,
Waving a flag.
Let the world know
There is a right to be alive—
The people of Palestine have,
In their own olive land.
The latest death toll stands at 44,383 Palestinians, around 70% of them are kids and women.
and with the last straw
my back
collapses, rips open
my chest
devours
my throat
my words
my lungs
my breath
leaving

my heart

exposed to the cold of

my alone
When life becomes larger than the ideal for humans, human bonds and empathy break down, and degradation and destruction become his chosen destiny.
Say
What  I wanted to say
what I meant to say
in all honesty was nothing like
the two thousand words that
spewed from my mouth
what I wanted to say
was that
in the end
I think we’ll be okay
We were thieves
That night,
Stealing kisses
In the moonlight,
A candle lit
To guide hands
And hearts

Josh
You were born near the warm ocean,
grew up around there,
With your clear acrylic smile
and sun-kissed blonde hair

I, the winter cold
More north than I can remember,
We met that day you visited,
a brisk chill, that December

We drank and danced,
while the years passed over
Argued and grew apart,
our greatest fears, now sober

My memories of you, once treasured
Now, faded
as sun deprived lands complain,
Forever, jaded
She is a poem of his heart
He never disclosed
In front of anyone.
Three burly sheriffs showed
up at my neighbors
house yesterday.
Scowls on scarred faces.
Tattered lives, tarnished
brains.
Five minutes later,
they were walking my
friend out in handcuffs.
He shuffled, head down.
Autumn frowned and the
leaves scuttled away in
disgust.

Today, the vultures swooped
in, picked the bones of all
his earthly possessions that
littered what was once his
front lawn.
Jackals, and hideous
hyena faced men and
women took the last of
his things.

Even though he was
arrested, he still
grows.
and although they are
free, they die more
daily in their own
private evictions.
I've seen more
humanity at a
hanging.

Fighting the fear
Going the distance
Coming out differently on the other side
You did more than survive
Keeping the passion in check
Until you open it wide or set it free
It's not what you say
It's how you say it
It's not what you hear
It's what you listen to and digest
Know your heart and be true to it
Truths
Consequences
