The sea has turned to glass
The sky so paper thin
I feel like I must walk forever
To keep from caving in
Blossoms are the
Hopes and dreams
Attached to the thorny
Stems of life
We all have to climb
To smell the roses

If I gave myself to you
My heart would burn
First greens then blues
I'd forget myself
And lose my truth
If I put my spell on you

If I burnt
   Forevermore
In exchange for
The love of my lover
Could my heart burn on in rain
In a thirst for wrong
Who can maintain?

If I turned my sights on you
And set my demon loose
The devour'er of flesh
There would be nothing of me left

If I left her love far behind
In the whispers of my rhyme
To crash your shores
To release my core
The lust would rip
My mind too sore

So in silence I remain
Behind these desperate eyes
My last  refrain
....

If you want me,
I won't approve.
Until you leave,
Then I'll long for you.
-

full moon
in a sequined cloak
one eye open
in the smoke

hiding in
a bit of lace
a coquettish fan
over your face

all golden
are your
dripping beams
through my window
birthing dreams

all through the air
the darkness stains
leaving dust
as its remains

drowsy now
the lullabies
bring that moondust
to my eyes

night
he slumbers
in the day
but he's now snoring
where he lay

all yawning now
the poems will keep
I'll join with night
in restful

sleep

I have been woken up in the middle of the night for months now. But for some reason I feel like I'll get a good night's sleep tonight

I'm exhausted!

I wrote a letter to a cliff
Because I know how it is to be the edge of the earth
It's ingrained in my mind always from experience
How one more step can lead to a fall
How one more step....
I wrote a letter a cliff and sent it via the wind

I sang a song to a mountain
Because I know how it is to rise above the world
A monument standing tall amidst the valleys
How one more step can lead to a peak
How one more step.....
I sang a song to a mountain and played it on the wind

A wrote a poem for the sky
Because I know how it is to feel endless
And then have the clouds encroach in a threatening way
How one more step through thunder and lightning
Just one more step.....
I wrote a poem for the sky on the air that I breath

Just one more step
Can lead to a peak
Can lead to a fall
A step in the rain
Can lead me to home
I like this one
From youth, not unlike the love
I received from my family, I surmised,
that extended love might be everywhere.
With artless, open arms and heart,
I embraced this simple notion.
In time, sadly this childish wish
was honed to a hard truth by maturation.

Friends and loves come
and go, fleeting in heart,
and committed soul.
Unreliably, flowing in and ebbing out,
like deep undulations of an ocean,
all too often with sneaker waves
that pull us under. Breakers pushing
our ship onto the rocks, in a sea
of shallow unfulfilled expectations.
Encounters becoming disappointment,
with too many frogs kissed.

My educated suspicion is,
beyond our family of blood kin,
Faithful canine love is the only
other "truly committed devotion"
we are likely to get.

In the end, that may well be enough.
Perspective wisdom can be a bitter lesson.
