What is blue?
They say it’s the colour of the sky
But I never saw it, for I am colourblind.
And then you came along, covering my sky with your compassion
The wisdom of your words, the comfort of your embrace
They say the say the sky watches over the world
But the one watching over my world, is you
I can now see the colour blue.

What is green?
They say it’s the colour of the forest
But I never saw it, for I am colourblind.
And then you came along, bringing out sides of me I didn’t know I had
Just as the forest harbours all forms of life
You brought out all forms of mine
The child, the man, and all things in me unseen
I now see the colour green.

What is red?
They say it’s the colour of a rose.
But I never saw it, for I am colourblind.
And then you came along, touching your soft lips to mine
The tenderness, the electricity, the passion you conveyed
Ran through my lips, my veins, all the way to my core
Your eyes said the rest, everything that was unsaid
I now see the colour red.

What is grey?
They say it is the colour of a rainy day.
Wait, this looks familiar, for I am colourblind!
Ah, the clouds, the drops, the world I’ve always known
But why is it so different, what are these colourful dashes in the way?
Have I always felt so much, did my smile always stay?
No, I see red, I see green, and I see blue
I now see the colour of you.

The boy picks up a pebble,
Determined to make it skip four times
But he knew not of the blood and the rubble,
The ripples made by powerful men's crimes.

But this little boy was happy,
For ignorance was indeed bliss
With each skip of his stone,
Someone embraced Death's kiss.

The world on fire,
A blackened sky
A soldier held his brother,
Telling him not to cry.

"But it hurts" said the brother,
"My heart is filled with fright!"
Lying with a pained smile, the soldier said,
"You'll be alright".

Under the starry sky
A little girl sleeps,
Freezing from the wind and hunger
Her little brother close, she keeps.

"I'm hungry" said the little boy,
Tears welling in his eyes
"Here, I have some bread left",
Seeing his smile, her hunger flies.

The woman lifted a rock
and then another,
Looking for her heart
Continued, the mother.

The city in chaos, someone asked,
"Sister! Can I help you?"
"No" said the mother, swallowing her tears,
In her hands, a little red shoe.

The pebble sunk on the third skip,
And so did the little boy's heart
He would come back again tomorrow
For a fresh new start.

A dark forest
A lake in isolation
No sign of the Moon
A wolf’s desolation

On the calm cold water
Drops a dew from his eye
A ripple in time
The sleeping birds fly

Before he turns away
He feels the silver touch
The moonlight on his cheek
The one he loves so much

The clouds had moved away
The skies ripped apart
And he saw dear Selena
Reaching out for his heart

“Tis already yours,” he said
“it beats for you, divine.”
“I know, my dear wolf”, she said
“So now, I give you mine.”

The wolf smiled again,
His sorrow, his fears, all gone
But now he dreaded the sun
For they would part again, come morn

“Fear not, my love” she said
“I’ll always come back to you”
“Do you love me that much?” asked the wolf
“Yes, my heart. I do. “

And so the night was done
But in his heart, she will remain
Come night, the wolf shall howl
And then, they’ll kiss again.

As her fingers ran through my hair,
She hummed a tune of sorrow
A wolf howled in the distance,
For he was yearning for the moon
Her eyes, dark as the night sky,
Looked into mine, and I saw light,
Blinding like an eclipsed star
Searing into the fabric of my being
Freeing me from all earthly restraints
With each stroke of her gentle caress
She untangled threads of my soul
And her lips, curved into a delicious smile,
Leaned towards mine ever so slightly
And when they touched, the wolf stopped howling
For he had now tasted the moon
