Sonnet III
Matthew Orellana Mar 2021
What’s the way into your daydreams?
How to be that word in silence, the one that always makes your heart scream.

Can you learn it without guidance?
Can I be your one true virus? The one that plagues all your thoughts.
The one that makes your heart stop.
Tell sweetheart if I can, tell me I can your man.

In my mind, your face is drawn, painted as the paragon.
And in your arms I must belong, that’s why the Muses sing my song.

Though your heart I long to win, to force your love would be a sin.
So like Astrophil gazed on his star, I’ll learn to love you from afar.
I won’t be careless with your heart, the way most men usually are.

For treasures here on Earth abound, yet I’ve found none that match the sound,
Of your laughter and your voice, or the beauty of your poise.
The cause of pain or all my joys, rest on the words that make your choice.

Sonnet I (For Anna)
Matthew Orellana Mar 2021
Answer love, just once; was I enough?
And if your answer’s no, then let me fall.
My love, it may abound but broken at that sound,
At last, a deep reprieve; my heart will crawl.

Still woken from my sleep, I find your soul.
Haunting, sweet; my weeps are wanting more.
For memories abound, just let my heart reach out,
And touch what once was yet now is gone.

My love, your stare again has turned aloof.
Your smile’s surely missing, you ask for proof?
Idyllic heart, we once wore upon our sleeve,
Has shattered; million pieces, that I alone am left to weave.

For this, I know and this alone, though time may pass and hurt may grow;
Forever and always to me, you are, still very lovable.

Henry
Matthew Orellana Apr 2019
The child coughed as he felt his heart hammer away in his chest. He stared at the window and saw a beautiful lady in a black dress come down from the window. She smiled at him as she knelt by the bed. Softly she whispered, it’s time Henry. She moved her gray hair out of the way as she carried Henry. He looked to the bed and saw himself lying there sleeping. He looked at her puzzled, what about my mommy? She looked at him and smiled sweetly as they started to float to the clouds. Don’t worry Henry, she said kissing his forehead, i’ll come back for her soon.

Broken Hearts
Matthew Orellana May 2018
There's no such thing as love
I heard her say
Your love for me's a distant bloom
That never found its way
As I stare in the darkness
Her words seal my fate
The foolish,foolish dream
That love can find a way
Love was a treasure
That I never got to learn
Love was a joy
But my soul feel's its burn
Where do broken hearts go?
A lonely song goes
To the pit of hell and back I'll go
But her answer to my heart was, no
