I saw you in winter,
and thought of tree branches feathered by starlight in poorly lit neighborhoods. A hearth where the more honest parts of myself, I am bared fetal, warmed upon, welcomed.

I saw you in spring,
and thought of long drives in the countryside in the rain. Ice cream melting from our chins dancing petrichor upon our toes, kissing by the sea shore.

I saw you in summer,
and thought of sleepy boathouses, uncovering ancient childhood treasures in the woods. A secret lake somewhere, the sky's reflection in promise. Windy hilltops upon which to blame each other for the sunrise.

I saw you in autumn,
and thought of scarfs and cafes, city streets and sunsets where we watched each others breath escape. Apartment staircases where windchill hibernates, the world slowing down around us from your window.

The first time I saw You, I thought to myself, "I could live there."

i hate to see you this way.
You are my best friend,
i am yours.

You can't just die.
Dying isn't going to fix you,
or heal you.

i want to help you,
but i can't.

Our lives are so deeply intertwined,
but we are both so broken.

I want to hold you and tell you that
everything is going to be okay,
but the truth is,
it's not.

You say you want to die.
You say no one will care,
no one understands you.

Well, what about me?
We are One. I can feel your heart
pound in my chest. I can also feel as you
tear it to shreds.

So if you die,
what about me?

I will die.
You can't leave the autumn leaves that crunch beneath
Our feet.
You can't vanish from all the photos We took, the memories
We share.

FOR ****'S SAKE WE ARE ONE

If you leave this world,
you'll leave it a murderer.
because at the moment Your heart stops in
My chest
i will die.
My best friend is going through some tough times, as am i. Together, we are just a mess blood and sorrow. But we are one, she can't leave me no matter how hard she tries.

I never wanted you to be
A picture on a glowing screen
Each word I speak of you could be
The soft words of a eulogy.

I wanted to knife my tongue today
To spit it out and throw away
I crooned your name in gentle lilt
Like a hand trailing over silk.

I thought it would choke me then
And it would drown me once again
I held my breath and really tried
To keep you locked away inside.

Instead the floodgates lost their clasp
And I could only stop and gasp
As it all encompassed me
I sunk down deep beneath the sea.

Ocean eyes I do recall in
Each return in early fall
Holding tight to the belief
In each gold arc, and scarlet leaf...

That my dream would be your dream
Instead of just a memory.
But all that was is nothing now
And all this is will not match how
It could have been, it should have been
And never will it be again.

The dam I built against the dream
Found me today in tiny stream
In rivulets I let you through
The person that I had once knew

I broke the surface to breathe
And felt the moisture take its leave
Pent you up behind the wall
Until the rain decides to fall.

When he was still an atheist - he prayed.
He did not settle down on bended knee.
Forgiveness Love and peace are his today.

He might have lost and never found his way,
Hidden within Source helped this blind man see.
When he was still an atheist - he prayed.

Though many sacred blessings came his way,
He never saw the incongruity.
Forgiveness Love and peace are his today.

At times he questioned choices he had made,
He thought his life unlocked by good luck' s key.
When he was still an atheist - he prayed.

Although in war, angels came to his aid,
He never saw past physicality.
Forgiveness Love and peace are his today.

When he could see his whole perspective changed,
He found he lived in Love's eternity.
When he was still an atheist - he prayed.
Forgiveness Love and peace are his today.
A little villanelle, I'm told I belong in the 19th century poetically.

Prayers answered by
Echoes of themselves imparting
No advice,
Repetitions of the question
Asked over again
Whispering softer
Each time it is refracted.
No thunderous voice from clouds agape
To shed light through stormy skies
Or seas parted to pave the path.
Spread the blood of the martyrs and
The Lamb across my door,
God does not live here, anymore.
