I believe in Magic.
Not the dream come true kind but the gathering
I know it’s just some stupid card game
But when you don’t know how to make friends
Maybe a little magic will help.
Plus Magic is all I have left of you
When I was starving,
poetry fed me

When I was sick,
the verse made me well

When I was homeless,
words gave me shelter

When I was lost
—the voice led me home

(Villanova Pennsylvania: December, 2016)
So many words placed with delicate zeal I have left at your feet
Cover to cover my love for you fills the book of my heart
Has anyone loved as fervently as I have you?
My pages remain eternally locked away
None has the heart to read them
I don't even have a key left
There is no use for one
You remain alone
Pallid lover
I'm sorry
//On her and love//
What kind of love does a man have
  for the offspring
   —he will never meet

What kind of love does a man have
  for the great-great-grandchildren
    —he will never see

What kind of love does a man have
  for a future
   —beyond his control

What kind of love does a man have
  for those distant
   —yet present enrolled
