For tomorrow to come,
We sleep.

Like a reset
Of yesterday.

Forget about what
Had happened.

Let's wake up
To a new dawn.
A new day.
A new memory.

Allow us to move
Into a new light,
And keep the good going
And the going good.

My Dear Poet
A blind woman gave birth
to the most beautiful girl
on earth

She could feel her heart beat
but could never see her face

She could touch her hand
but never saw her
eyes of grace

She could smell her skin
but never seen
her smiling

a beautiful blind woman bore
the most beautiful woman on earth
who saw her mother more

than just with eyes and all their worth

i love you

Grace
i know regret
and it tastes very much like grief
i know love
which, often,
is the same colour as relief.

A Poet
At sixteen,
I knew the beauty of life,
poor, hungry, but full of affection and tenderness,
I never suffered nor cried; until I met you.
you taught me love,
     pain, sadness, tears,
         when you left
             I learned of longing. . .
take me back to sixteen, b̶e̶f̶o̶r̶e̶ ̶I̶ ̶f̶o̶u̶n̶d̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶. . .

Blue linen
Unclouded, the canvas light
Air brushed with strings of white

Beneath the curtains
Rested the stars
Twinkling all night

The morning star arrives
Magic it has in mind
Golden drapes gently unfold

remember that when
your wavering soul
catches fire
for the second
or hundredth
time

when you call on me
once more
misery boiling over
a cascade of every
decision, you
never made

i will not be there
you are alone

I'm afraid so

Sophia
She was a thrifted sweater and denim and jersey knit sheets
Pizza breath and red wine and toothpaste
Alabaster skin and knotted hair and freckled shoulders
A tangible dream and my favorite good morning
She agreed to let me kiss her and I agreed to let her slip my shirt over my head before she became
Blood and tears
"I trusted you" and "I’m sorry"
Midnight poems and a drunk "I need you"
I’m afraid I loved you like the way I wrote
