 Mar 2021 Burning Lilacs

Bleakest drape inescapence.
Impertinent involuscence.
Stemming from a copulent.
Incongruent malocculent.

Plead among no relent.
Populate incompetent.
Unvaried fraudulence.
Clarity accomplishments.

In foggy eyes, the view reset.
Across the smoke, a sober fret.
A mind that rose from utter death.
Again to draw, refreshing breath.
It's been a year.

It's been a year of;
Intense pain and immense strain.
Perky days and burning blaze.
Inky skies and victims' cries.

Time will wash all this,
Eyes spill lost promise.
Today is one day
Just like the rest,
But unlike the others
It is here
Now.

Unlike tomorrow,
It holds the promise
Of existence.

And unlike yesterday
It provides opportunity
For change.

Today, her majesty
Is all we have.

When we salute her sunrise
And give way to her glory.

The shadows of yesterday
Come to rest
And the worries of tomorrow ease

And today opens her royal gates
To let in the living.
I pick at my past with a scalpel
Clumsy, desperate
Leave no stone unturned
lest there be blood underneath

I pick and pick and leave myself raw
Spilling on the pristine floor
of your easy conscience
The life not examined

I pick off the shrapnel carefully
where melds with flesh
I know I don't look like myself
but you'll get used to it

sometimes i get sad
foraging through what can seem like
a big pile of never-ending-mishaps
and some days the weight of life
lays so heavy on my chest
that i want to give up
and just marry my bed

but then i remember
that i am the universe in motion
and if wildfires have the right
to burn everything in their paths
and if the sky can cry for days on end
then why would the rules for me amend?
for i am made of the same elements as them
the air i breathe and the stars i see
are all alive, inside of me

so i stop and feel

i mean, what is real?
my problems are
temporary
and i am forever
my soul exists in a place
where honey love is all i taste
where i fall asleep dancing
with rainbows in kaleidoscope skies
to the rhythm of the phases
of our monsoon sun rise

opening up
my heart and eyes
my lips may tremble
with the power of time
but i will kiss the clouds
in the morning highs
to remind the world
of it's eternal light
along with mine

i let it all go
and i realign
