I have this question I often ask
For the answer there is a need
No one here is standing in judgement
So it can be laid out truthfully

You always say when you are asked
That yes you follow Christ
But compared to the rest of the world
What's so different about your life

When people look at you
Do they see a shining light on the hill
Always standing up for the truth
Always have and always will

Or do they see someone on the fence
Teetering this way and that in the breeze
Using God as fire protection
Hoping to scrape by, by the skin of your teeth

No doubt you know it's so much more
All about the relationship
So the question is when God looks at your life
Is that what it really is

But also as important when the world looks at you
Is there a difference they can tell
Or could it be when the world looks at your life
That they only see themselves

This is a question I often ask myself
If you must know truthfully
Feel free to take time out of your day
To ask yourself the very same thing

I tried my best, I did my best
Not to fall in love with you
Not to picture our hands intertwined pointing above
Not to think of our lives together that could have been
Not to dream of you laying next to me after a night of love and sin
Not to break down and wish I could start again.
But I guess my best. Couldn't win.

The moment I laid my eyes on you,
        I knew,
you were a dream that would never,
                come true.

when we are without our clothes
no one knows our rags nor riches
no one knows our highs nor lows
when we are without our stitches

when we are all naked stark
no one knows just who we are
nor do they know the part
that we play in life's shopping cart

you may ask what am i suggesting
perhaps we should all go naked
we'd then be on equal footing
and wouldn't that there be a blessing
