I MIND him well, he was a quare ould chap,
Come like meself from swate ould Erin's sod;
He hired me wanst to help his harvest in-
The crops was fine that summer, praised be God!

He found us, Rosie, Mickie, an' meself,
Just landed in the emigration shed;
Meself was tyin' on their bits of clothes;
Their mother-rest her tender sowl!-was dead.

It's not meself can say of what she died:
But 'twas the year the praties felt the rain,
An' rotted in the soil; an' just to dhraw
The breath of life was one long hungry pain.

If we wor haythens in a furrin land,
Not in a country grand in Christian pride,
Faith, then a man might have the face to say
'Twas of stharvation me poor Sheila died.

But whin the parish docthor come at last,
Whin death was like a sun-burst in her eyes-
They looked straight into Heaven-an' her ears
Wor deaf to the poor children's hungry cries,

He touched the bones stretched on the mouldy sthraw:
'She's gone!' he says, and drew a solemn frown;
'I fear, my man, she's dead.' 'Of what?' says I.
He coughed, and says, 'She's let her system down!'

'An' that's God's truth!' says I, an' felt about
To touch her dawney hand, for all looked dark;
An' in me hunger-bleached, shmall-beatin' heart,
I felt the kindlin' of a burnin'spark.

'O by me sowl, that is the holy truth!
There's Rosie's cheek has kept a dimple still,
An' Mickie's eyes are bright-the craythur there
Died that the weeny ones might eat their fill.'

An' whin they spread the daisies thick an' white
Above her head that wanst lay on me breast,
I had no tears, but took the childher's hands,
An' says, 'We'll lave the mother to her rest.'

An' och! the sod was green that summer's day,
An' rainbows crossed the low hills, blue an' fair;
But black an' foul the blighted furrows stretched,
An' sent their cruel poison through the air.

An' all was quiet-on the sunny sides
Of hedge an' ditch the stharvin' craythurs lay,
An' thim as lacked the rint from empty walls
Of little cabins wapin' turned away.

God's curse lay heavy on the poor ould sod,
An' whin upon her increase His right hand
Fell with'ringly, there samed no bit of blue
For Hope to shine through on the sthricken land.

No facthory chimblys shmoked agin the sky.
No mines yawned on the hills so full an' rich;
A man whose praties failed had nought to do
But fold his hands an' die down in a ditch.

A flame rose up widin me feeble heart,
Whin, passin' through me cabin's hingeless dure,
I saw the mark of Sheila's coffin in
The grey dust on the empty earthen flure.

I lifted Rosie's face betwixt me hands;
Says I, 'Me girleen, you an' **** an' me
Must lave the green ould sod an' look for food
In thim strange countries far beyant the sea.'

An' so it chanced, whin landed on the sthreet,
Ould Dolan, rowlin' a quare ould shay
Came there to hire a man to save his wheat,
An' hired meself and Mickie by the day.

'An' bring the girleen, Pat,' he says, an' looked
At Rosie, lanin' up agin me knee;
'The wife will be right plaised to see the child,
The weeney shamrock from beyant the sea.

'We've got a tidy place, the saints be praised!
As nice a farm as ever brogan trod.
A hundered acres-us as never owned
Land big enough to make a lark a sod.'

'Bedad,' says I, 'I heerd them over there
Tell how the goold was lyin' in the sthreet,
An' guineas in the very mud that sthuck
To the ould brogans on a poor man's feet.'

'Begorra, Pat,' says Dolan, 'may ould Nick
Fly off wid thim rapscallions, schaming rogues,
An' sind thim thrampin' purgatory's flure
Wid red hot guineas in their polished brogues!'

'Och, thin,' says I, 'meself agrees to that!'
Ould Dolan smiled wid eyes so bright an' grey;
Says he, 'Kape up yer heart; I never kew
Since I come out a single hungry day.

'But thin I left the crowded city sthreets-
Th'are men galore to toil in thim an' die;
Meself wint wid me axe to cut a home
In the green woods beneath the clear, swate sky.

'I did that same; an' God be praised this day!
Plenty sits smilin' by me own dear dure;
An' in them years I never wanst have seen
A famished child creep tremblin' on me flure.'

I listened to ould Dolan's honest words:
That's twenty years ago this very spring,
An' **** is married, an' me Rosie wears
A swateheart's little shinin' goulden ring.

'Twould make yer heart lape just to take a look
At the green fields upon me own big farm;
An' God be praised! all men may have the same
That owns an axe an' has a strong right arm!

It's sad how the things go like this today ..
I've thought about it hundered times ..
The words that should be said ..
Before reaching this pointless point ..
Time won't always heal your pain ..
Sometimes , the pain will always haunt you ..
Listen to my unspoken words ..
Hear my unheared scream ..
Stare at my eyes and you'll find the answer ..
It's sad how the things go like this today ..
This pain inside your chest , i feel it ..
This pain that lead you to carziness ..
This craziness that i can handle ..
It's me , It's your home where you're always safe ..
I will be there away and you'll replace me hundered times ..
Until you realise that no one can handle you but me ..
Not because you're hard to handle but because it's me , it's your home where you're always safe ..
I will be there away and you'll comeback ..
Until then , i will be in another place where i didn't use to be in ..

I will be

In the corner of your eyes

And you'll always look at me

As it sounds sad
For a reason
I can't understand
Even after I extended them
A helping hand
Also a good Samaritan
I shook off their dust
And pulled them up
From the sand,
There are people
Who do  me
Things bad
Daring
"Do good to s/he
Who did  you
Things bad!"
Topsy-turvy
On its head stand.

But up on
A bit reflection
Something bubbles up
To my attention
Despite His
Benevolence untold
That is exactly what
I am doing on God.

Envoy

"Forgive your erring friend
Seventy times seven
If you want Me
To welcome you in heaven!"
For some friends and colleagues who did me bad as a reward for the good things I did them.Strange!

You looked at me with sadness the kind I've seen before .

it all look so familiar to me but I was never one to be sure .

I second guessed every move I made , I was never satisfied .

Your body moved a certain way , you made our vines intertwine.

I will never forget you , that's a know fact.

I'm just sorry I misjudged our balancing act.

You see I was in it for the comfort and the security of another , I was in it for the body and the heat it radiated into mine .

You asked me why It was always cold in my house , a question you must have worded a hundered different was to make sure I wouldn't lie.

I simply looked into his eyes and said " I do it to feel, you see inside of me is this deep black hole he once used to cover , he was buried so deep in my heart , my body was half his , now I'm left to do to another what he did to me "

With your eyes full of tears ready to spill at any moment , I made sure to mutter to you "I never said forever "

I never said forever because what is time other than a way to navigate your day , if I promised you something I couldn't fulfil i would never be able to stay.

I told you not to get attached it was nothing more than company , I looked and you a realised you looked like me when he stood in front of me .

I could see the way your heart was breaking from the simple things I said , the truth is something that you wanted but you never knew it was this .

You see this bed was never made for two I always stayed in his.

So with your eyes flowing the tears of heartbreak and nothing less I'm sure , ill turn and walk away.

And whisper into the air and say " don't forget to close the door on your way" .

The bronze of a ringed finger
And the gold of God's heart
The silver of Poseidon's eyes
And the red of torn apart
It was made in the cave of a mountain
Foraged from the heart of star
The angels were playing a game
And I suppose they could throw them quite far
An Irishman found the celestial rock
And took home to give to his wife
But on the way o'er the moor he tripped with the star
And fell on a stone like a knife
The star slipped from his grasp and rolled away
Exactly where no man is quite sure
But a hundered and sixty two years after that
It was found by a woman quite pure
She loved how it twinkled and glittered and shined
But her young daughter loved it and whined and whined
So one day the woman, though still pure of heart
Took her young daughter and tore her apart
Arrested and biter the woman was taken
The star underneath her pillow lay shaken
The poor little thing had lost quite a sweet home
Then the poor thing heard a long, lonely drone
Something was coming, something quite frightening
So the little thing rolled away kicking and biting
But stars, the poor things, are quite without eyes
So the star rolled off a cliff, sure of its grim demise
But then it was held softly, by something quite bland
It had been caught, been caught by a hand
The hand took it in to meet its homely face
The face belonged to a young girl of eight
She smiled at the lump of celestial rock
And ran home to the mountain, with only one sock
She gave it to her mother, who worked with polished metal
She cut the rock in half and carved one half into a petal
The other she saved for something quite new
First she took her stone axe and cut down a tall yew
She fastened a clock out of metal and zest
And she shoved the clock right into her young sons chest
It sputtered and spit until his eyes opened wide
And suddenly he stood up and right out he cried
Mother, a new heart, how am I to thank you?
She smiled, took his hand, and wiped tears for her eyes blue
He nodded and began straight to pack up his bags
He piled it on his back and his shoulders did sag
He kissed his mother and sister and began his long trek
Towards the black vast beyond
Toward the world, towards the wreck
He walked for six weeks before he came on a village
He was a kind boy, he had no thought to pillage
He called out quiet loud for everyone's ears
Hello! The boy with the clockwork heart is here!
No one came out, save a beautiful young girl
She looked at him quietly, and she made his head whirl
She asked him if she could feel his heart at work
He nodded and she placed her hand with a smirk
She gasped and she shuddered, her eyes like warm butter
Then she laughed and he let out a chuckle
He kissed her warm lips with his hands on her hips
But then suddenly something made his knees buckle
What's wrong? The girl asked him, a frown on her face
Still with hair soft like wings of a dove
He smiled sadly and laughed again, holding her hands
Dear it's silly, but the clockwork boy has finally found love

If you break a poets heart
You will live on forever
Everything they say will be infused with aftermath of you
The emotions
Loneliness you left with them
Will fill all thier writing
Inspired them to write more
You will be a co-author in millions of poems
The inspiration to thousands works of art
And you won't even know it
You wont even know in a hundered years you will still live on
You dont know about your newly found

I know when I've spent too much time alone,

when I can smoke six cigarettes in a row.

And write one-hundered poems about how I froze,

when I caught my first sight of **you.
