i'm trying to save you
from falling into
the 6 foot hole
you're digging
for yourself.
If you white?
Be proud.
If you black?
Be proud.

So what?
If you come under racists attacks and you don't fit that picture?
Be proud.

Whatever race you are?
Be proud.
No one is supreme?
Just a mindset of insecurity.
We all have someone bright within.

If you Latino?
Don't matter what ethnic you claim of that heritage.
Be proud.
I've known lots of panic attacks
Even mystic terror

My life has been chaotic
But it has not been an error

For decades now, for decades
I've been in love with the moon

I've looked in many wrong places
But I do love Flaming June

I did my best as a teacher
Though I was quite ordinary

I never could quite reach her
But I do trust Mother Mary

When I go down, I go down grateful
I learned from sins and even abuse

Death, the ultimate fear
Is the ultimate Thai cut loose

                  The Buddha, Bruce.

When I was a child,
I was taught poetry wasn't mild,
It was deep as the sea,
And it seemed truly unachievable for me.
I was taught poetry had to rhyme,
Every single line, every single time.
So poetry seemed out of my reach,
Like chasing a seagull down a beach,
Jumping ever so slightly away,
Or soaring into the sunny day.

So I never thrived for what I thought would,
No, Could
Never be.

I guess now I'm fixing the mistakes of past me.
