I wear this poppy to show respect
In a moment of silence we all reflect
These brave men fought on Flanders field
Millions in a crowd with a poppy they yield
People brought together by this one event
Everybody knows what this poppy represents
Lest we forget, a time to remember
Lest we forget the 11th of November
Life is a matter of perspective
And happiness is a choice
But the smile I paint upon my face
Doesn't mask the sadness in my voice
Just because I know joy is inside me
Doesn't mean I feel it in my heart
I search for peace every single day
But finding it is the hardest part
It comes so easy for others
As it did to me once before
It's not that what I have isn't enough
It's that I used to have so much more
If you can't find happiness in the ugliness you won't find it in the beauty
I live in darkness within my mind
For my soul was taken long ago,
Happiness is something I'll never find
For my grief I can never let go.

but your poem tells me there is still hope
On this we both agree,
So through all the grief I will still cope
Until I am set free.

So thank you very much
Your poem means a lot to me,
For something deep within me was touched
And relived my misery.

The poem was named "Night"

night skies
starry nights
I want to walk the city
cars yelling by
short sights
of bats
buildings that tower over our dreams
if only it was only me
walking into the city
mutterings of quiet feet
street lights raining over me
small sighs
I want to walk the city
that's not mine
dark times
gloomy parks
swinging by
I want to walk this city alone
on a sidewalk
far from home
with the air a little cold
only so my cheeks blush
hands inside pockets
walking
I'm just walking
no worries
I'll be fine
I'm walking alone

night time
my time
this is my living
let me walk this city
solely
I just want to breathe
in life
