sage trees and salten stars
upon a pepper sky
once i walked
with my true love
through the fields rye

parsley groves and hills of clove
sweet rosemary hair
we walked through the fields of rye
and smelled the savory air

embracing in the cinnamon
the world of heat and steam
it was stream of consciousness
it was just a dream

i looked at my love's lemon eyes
smiled at him and said,
"i really must have dinner
before i go to bed!"

It’ll never be our turn to win
My horse doesn’t have a sliver saddle
I’ve ridden her for many years
With never a runout or refusal.
The judges give us second place
And hope we’ll race again next year.

And we always do.
when everything stops
except for clocks that still tick.

we're being picked off like flies
and all you say is
everyone dies
but that's lies
nobody dies
it's a summer holiday
in a heavenly hideaway
that lasts longer than forever.

I've imagined nothing before
it's like
footprints filled in
by a million years wide
so
as long as
I belong as
a part of it all
and not sat alone
on the celestial wall
I'm happy.
Rainbows we danced on
crosses we hung from
dreams that we clung to
are all a piece of you.

and we outlived them
grew old and shelved them
and what remains
are the aches and pains
which nobody wants
but everyone gains,

it's a circus ring and we all bring
our lions and clowns
smiles and frowns
to put on a show
and then we go.

Share with me your hopes and dreams,
the greatest ones with wild schemes,
what lights that spark in your eyes and
what dims the glow when that spark dies?

Tell me what makes your heart ignite,
like a warming fire on dark cold nights,
what distant shores do you long to roam
and which path would lead you far from home?

What songs awaken your happy smile
and what keeps you busy for a while?
Tell me what triumphs fill your untold trials
and what you have witnessed over the miles.

Let me bask in your greatest joys,
and share in the moments life employs,
time moves fast as friendship grows
into something beautiful that only we know.

the light, the faint curtain that draws across day,
far from night's shadows, creature of fire,

revolves, drops white nets into the sea-earth,
where ice and the aching frost cry out

and the soil hardens with its harsh, freezing edge.

we are deaf and blind, numb of limb
like the thin trees and the specter-sky,

blue and forlorn, dreaming our winter dreams...

and through the cold walls i can hardly draw
a smile, sad as a silver leaf the autumn forgot.

it is you who lifts me from the ground, somehow,
like an april shoot seeking the sun, somehow,

my bones as frail as a bird and yet
when the air stirs my blood and i stare into

the amber notes of the wind, the unforgiving land
buckles and breaks and i return to the

kernel of your heart and even the icy
lakes and the weighty forest you loved

under your skin that the light waits to
warm, forget their cold death, breathe

like summer returning to a distant shore.

Numbness of reality
A meditative process
I rather not feel
All the sudden losses
The older I get
The clearer I see
The game is stacked
Exponentially

By the darkest night’s
Of our soul
We build these defenses
We are in accord
With a game of certain
Consequences

Good or bad
It’s a hell of a ride!
But if I can help it
I won’t let anybody die..

My oldest dog had to be put down that day.. Ya we had four on our farm.
