caught in little fishing hooks
pierced ears gone awry
its scales scrubbed viciously from flesh
hacked open
gory madness
soaking into the oak table
not very hygienic
not much of anything
congealing, drying
still wet enough that to touch it would be
to spoil everything
(makes such pretty colors in the wood)

They are right there.
Close enough to touch.
But they are untouchable.

They are made of steel.
Their eyes a hard, hard metal.
Dull and rusty and impenetrable.
Their body made of scratched steel.
Rigid, unchanging, a statue.

I am made of glass.
My eyes made of water.
That leak out
every time I reach out
only to find
that they are statues
and not human,
not my parents
anymore.
My body made of shatter and of hurt.
Of confusion and of anger.
Of blood that runs
whenever I cut myself
on my broken glass.
I cannot heal myself.
I cannot glue back my broken glass.
I can only stand there,
and hope that the steel knife
does not break my glass heart
completely.

Love the little spider
Who naturally spins
its thin silken web
Love the little pig
Who is so happy
just to play in the mud
Love the little worm
Who is blind
but still tunnels the Earth
Love the little girl
Who hides herself
behind all those books
Because aside from what
other people may say
Everything that has been called
ugly
Will show you true beauty
some day
With love, kelsey

These destructive thoughts are a calamity
Driving my mind to the brink of insanity
**** this
Oops, excuse the profanity

But this is the last of this thing called sanity
I can no longer be part of humanity
I am now so far from sane
My thoughts are simply not humane

Not quite sure what made things this way
Maybe the RedBull made my brain grow wings and it flew away
I don't really have much to say
This poem really has no point anyway

Maybe it's to clear my mind out
.
.
.
I am the most sane inhumane insane humane person, no doubt.
Don't ask.

cyanide skies
tell them you've got a story
and they'll listen with ears clogged
stuck on your metaphors
but too drained to ask for meanings
tell them you've got a story
and they'll talk over your voice
so instead, here you are
hiding behind pseudonyms
that sound romantic enough
for a page turn
so you write
and say that you've got a story to tell
when really, you wrote this at 11:14 pm
in your room
with the lamp bulb burning too hot
and you're making it up as you go
because you're tired
and someone must understand that
the shadows are getting to be too long
and you've still got a **** story to tell
but it's too late for stories
and too early for confessions
so you continue to write
and hope, someday
that when you say you have a story to tell
someone will listen;
really listen.

Simply Said

-

I ran out of words
so I stopped at the store
and searched every aisle and row

Pushing my cart
with a wobbling wheel
just trying to keep with the flow

Chocolate chip cookies,
a magazine stand,
broom handles right over there

Two percent milk,
light bulbs and duct tape,
prices galore to compare

But there were no words
at least none I could use
to write you a poem today

No phrases on sale,
not a verse on the shelf
or flowery thoughts on display

So I bought a pen
and a Big Chief notebook,
there was nothing else I could do

And I scribbled these words
as I walked to my car
that simply said I do love you

Your whispers drip like honey
showering me with sweet nothings
Your hands move like snakes
slinking up my thigh
I should tell you to stop
I belong to another
But your hands have lit fires under my skin
And your venom runs through my veins
Drunk on seduction
I want you

I do not tell you to stop
You know the type
