In here I found something so rare
Exuding brilliance everywhere
A little stone at your first glance
yet great a value does it bear

While it may seem as not so great
The more you spend your time with it
you’ll change your mind and realise
the things you can appreciate

Especially when you can see
its brightly lustrous qualities
you’ll want to have it all the time
and anywhere that you may be

Indeed it is a treasure dear
alluring always, never blear
it never fails to give me cheer
I hope it never disappears

I look around and all I see
is chaos, strife, pain and disease
despite the things I have achieved
these wretched things crash over me.

There was a king from years long past
who said that treasures never last
“Everything is meaningless,
a chasing after the wind.”
Better to leave those things to rest.

My medals and trophies will soon be gone
These aren’t what I must focus on
The sort of mark that I should leave
is that which for eternity lives.

From everyone you talk to
you say you want the truth
yet when I demand it from you
you vehemently refuse.

Does the rule only apply
to others but not to you?
If so, why bother imposing
if you don’t follow it too?

How can there be order
if this is what you do?
If anything, it’s insane!
That, can’t you deduce?

If you really value truth
then you must be, yourself,
practising such honesty
in every story you tell.
