Gravel roads suffer when they're paved
The character of a dirt byway is violently stripped away
A slow drive cutting through the brush with songbirds
to either side , a few precious moments with the woodland
fauna on a scenic ride
Old roads in Hill Country are becoming a thing of the past
Tis a shame that these old trails won't last* ...

such charming colour every bloom*
richly decorating the room
a Grecian vase held an array
spring's loveliest hues did display

the eye captured by flowers
profuse each ones gorgeous powers
of orange and white highlighting shay
with olive green leaf midst the lay

portraying an artistic glory
petals of impressionist's story
the painter scented beauty at play
applying the tones of May

such charming colour every bloom
*on applying the tones of May
On granite tops
Of a syllables edge,
Under the knife of the moon's
Tips and rustled
Tops of wilderness's troops
Marching in cooler bones
And aching the secretly
Emerging gold and browns
Alleviate the warm regards,
Bland of words
And so many, many of
The mind inherit the season
With feverish nostalgia,
Able to take sin among the
Flesh and cleanse the
Cools the breeze like
A sullen midnight tremble
In the lovers arms
Greasing the days with
An  angels wing
And the eyes grow heavy,
Pure more so than you
Or I,
A cool silence
In the huge seasons
Flowing in the beads of
The virgins beneath
Winter's yelp.
you'll sense much friction
whence the ladies come into contact
they'll show an outer courtesy
toward each other
yet be privately thinking
I'm not fond of her

there's no love lost
no not at all
between them there's
a thorny wall

the forced pleasantries
are a dead give away
it's not hard for an interpreter
to see through the display

you'll wonder
who or what?
lies in the middle
of their stance
which doesn't fail
to catch the translator's
glance

Seems like forever since I have been away
Thinking about you nothing goes by not even a day
Life with you was my escape from a world that hurts
Now there there is just a hole where my heart was
My mind a blank eyes just a stare
One day maybe it will all come clear.
Always
We were poets,
Once,
Hearts etched upon our sleeve
The lords of our intent,
Words bloomed for all to see.
Each branch of thought considered,
Chiseled,
Whittled to express.
Carving the forest in our likeness
We paved the landscape with our breath.
Woods would sway in idle days
Sunkissed glades lay bathed in gold.
Nights waylaid by dancing maids
Cheap ale and tales of old.
Fires burn, flames unfold.
Though
Embers remember
Tender clutch of the cold.
We tend to forget the bargained,
The sold.
Up rivers and creeks,
Paddles, disowned by the meek,
Cast away to distant shores.
Glades decay,
Fade to grey.

We become poets once more.
