5778, So That I Remember

What a bad Jew I am -
Having to write a poem
So that I remember, can recall
Once and for all
The joy of Rosh Hashanah
And the length of centuries
The Jews have thrived,
Have managed bravely to survive.
A feast that serves the feat,
(In fact, the feat deserving feast).

So much I do not know,
Therefore, to show heredity’s identity
To world and to myself,
I shall repeat the word, the year, the sound
Till next year when it comes around,
Turns seven eight to seven nine.

To all who like this person mine
Have left all contact far behind:
Happy New Year – Rosh Hashanah!
Shana Tovah – Happy New Year!

Meant for everyone who forgets.

she forgets a lot of things
forgets to eat lunch
forgets to zip up her uniform
forgets to tie her shoes
forgets to brush her hair
forgets what page number she's on
forgets what the color of her room is
forgets the way to her house
forgets the formulas in math
forgets the terms in economics
she forgets people's names
and forgets the date
she forgets the year
she forgets anniversaries
and sometimes forgets birthdays too
forgets forgets forgets

she forgets to love herself
and forgets that she's allowed to make mistakes
she forgets that she's human
she forgets that she's loved

but what she'll never forget
is her best friend's favorite candy
and her the sound of her sister's laugh
she'll never forget the color of his eyes
or what it feels like when he kisses her forehead
she'll never forget her mother's hugs
or her father's favorite color
she might forget herself every now and then
but she'd never forget them

No One Forgets their First
A year of awakening,
A company unforgettable, a journey to the forbidden...
hours of speaking without words,
contemplation...confession...

The unending conversations,
Wrapped in warmth untold...
Respect unheard...care...concern
A world of two, a space untouched.

The eye you gave me,
I knew you were only for me
A heaven built for me...
Wine...chocoalate..honey..milk...

Hours of just you and me,
Wanted to sing to you Baby Face..Lionel Richie...Nameless
Wanted to make it endless
In a world of preying hawks
I was never insecure

No one forgets their first,
No one forgets their first-
endorsed by angels above,
You don't try too hard with the first
But you try less you lose

Gifts you gave me I still keep,
But a broken trust is what you keep,
I dream of you sometimes,
But its just a sweet little past.
I miss you  VIRGINIA
No one forges
no one forgets
