Humanity

Our mortal sins and fatal flaws,
our selfishness for "the better cause".
Our greed, our envy and lust,
our desire for acceptance, our ignorant trust.
Our broken promises and tainted lies,
the human race, the smog filled skies.
Just kind of wrote it.
What do you think? Do any of you have suggestions for future poems? Areas of strength, weakness? I'd really like to hear some feedback! Thank you for reading.

What I thought was my forever is now my past - crazy how this world works
You share dreams with someone and then they become your nightmare
Your soul wanders at night searching for theirs
Restless nights throughout
The journey never ends - tunnel seems to get darker, yet they say there's light at the end of every tunnel I used to want to look into your eyes until sun comes up, then only thing I'm getting is grey skies and a black moon.
I loved you from my skin to my bones, trying to runaway from the reality of your memories that have been planted in my mind, torture. The hallways of my soul still echo your name. The only sign of hope in me,is the ink I let ruin the paper with the words I'd say to you.

Bad Habits

I began thinking of you constantly.
Every little thing reminded me of you.
We shared the same bad habit.
You'd habitually crack your knuckles;
And now, every time I do, I can't help but think of you.
But then I realized,
That's exactly what you were.
Just another bad habit I had to get over.

'Twas midnight in the schoolroom
And every desk was shut
When suddenly from the alphabet
Was heard a loud "Tut-Tut!"

Said A to B, "I don't like C;
His manners are a lack.
For all I ever see of C
Is a semi-circular back!"

"I disagree," said D to B,
"I've never found C so.
From where I stand he seems to be
An uncompleted O."

C was vexed, "I'm much perplexed,
You criticise my shape.
I'm made like that, to help spell Cat
And Cow and Cool and Cape."

"He's right" said E; said F, "Whoopee!"
Said G, "'Ip, 'Ip, 'ooray!"
"You're dropping me," roared H to G.
"Don't do it please I pray."

"Out of my way," LL said to K.
"I'll make poor I look ILL."
To stop this stunt J stood in front,
And presto! ILL was JILL.

"U know," said V, "that W
Is twice the age of me.
For as a Roman V is five
I'm half as young as he."

X and Y yawned sleepily,
"Look at the time!" they said.
"Let's all get off to beddy byes."
They did, then "Z-z-z."

The soul of gold
Shining within you
Has rusted over
Nothing lasts forever
But that heart of stone
You built for yourself

So I guess I can't believe you
When answers slip out your mouth
To fill my eager mind with filth

I must be delirious to hear you anymore
When you whisper nothings into my body

All I ever knew was broken
Until you fixed me once
Enough to manipulate
These bones towards demise

“It was a question I had worn on my lips for days – like a loose thread on my favourite sweater I couldn’t resist pulling – despite knowing it could all unravel around me.
‘Do you love me?’ I ask.
In your hesitation, I found my answer.”
-Lang Leav
Not my poetry, but I related so much that I wanted to post it.
