There are some rare occasions
that I catch myself
just gazing at her when
her attention
is elsewhere
and I think to myself,
"My God,
sometimes you can be
such a headache
but you are,
and always be,
my favorite person
in the world."

To believe that
she had to
hide all the parts of her
that were broken,
simply because out of fear
that someone else
was incapable
of loving what was less than
perfect.
But then, out of the blue,
she found the true
love
that she needed to find:
self-love.

As her elderly eyes
noticed her
broken,
she said:
"Child, even the greatest
treasures
are hard to find,
flowers start from dirt,
stars shine brightest
at night.
Be patient.
It will find you
someway, somehow.
Trust and never
doubt its power.
