i have heard of many sane people
who become isolated somehow
trapped
captured
imprisoned
stranded
who spend too much time
in solitude and go completely
and irreversibly
mad
Ive spent too much thinking lately
and have realized that maybe
its not the alone that kills you
steals your mind
its all the words
we all have so much to say
too many words
trapped in our heads
and with no way to release them
to pass them along to others
they pile up in our minds
like water filling a balloon
but a balloon can only take so
much water
before it bursts into
a million
tiny
pieces
leaving behind
useless scraps
of rubber
unsalvageable
maybe thats why lonely people
sad people
mad people
who don’t talk enough
who have no one to listen
have slashes across their wrists
and bang their heads against the walls
to try to
relieve
the pressure

Its strange how the snow seem to
dissolve the color from the world
The trees and the sky and the lake
transformed into shades of grey
with blankets of white softening
the sharp edges of leafless plants
and jagged rocks
Sometimes deep within
a silent but raging snowstorm
the world looks timeless
ugly buildings and bulbous cars
hidden from sight
under mountains of soft billows
of crystallized sky
People stay in their homes
and the traffic stops
and you can pretend
for a few minutes
that we were never here
that we never invaded the Earth
never threw black soot into the tired sky
never ripped the ground to pieces looking
for the right kind of rock
sometimes i wish it could snow forever
that the cars and the buildings
and the people
could stay buried
and when the snow melts
the earth will find
that they have all
disappeared.

I have so many words
crammed inside my head
words on words
no pattern
just words
a disjointed jumble.
As I shove them out
of my head
onto paper
more appear
faster than I can write.
My words
borrowed words
words of geniuses
words of drunks.
Someone once told me
words are powerful
if you know how to use them
but I don't
so I have no power
just a crowded head
filled with disjointed
words.
