South West wind,
My lover is in your midst.
Be gentle and remember,
Remembrance is all I’ve given lover.
Take lover to where the sun rests it’s meaning.
She loved being lulled to sleep
By the gentle thrum of his heartbeat
Little girl with moonlit hair
How do you stay soft
With all the scars that you bare?

She smiled knowingly,
"These marks will soon fade"
But they'll never forget
the love that I gave
I pray to God that karma is real
and that you feel

Every single thing you've done to me.
Ten fold.

*Amen
He didn't like the flowers
that sprouted beneath my collarbone.

He hated the red oak
and the fruit that I'd grown.

So I plucked every petal,
brought sheers to my throat
No longer my haven,
I was a garden of smoke.

Now he holds my wilted pieces
with a face of disgust
and decides an empty garden
is just too much fuss.
It was greens and golds
Orange flames and Brown mud
it was the in-between of holding
and letting go.

It was death
and it was so beautiful

When you look into my eyes, do you see the damage?
during my worst times
on the park benches
in the jails
or living with
******
I always had this certain
contentment-
I wouldn't call it
happiness-
it was more of an inner
balance
that settled for
whatever was occuring
and it helped in the
factories
and when relationships
went wrong
with the
girls.
it helped
through the
wars and the
hangovers
the backalley fights
the
hospitals.
to awaken in a cheap room
in a strange city and
pull up the shade-
this was the craziest kind of
contentment

and to walk across the floor
to an old dresser with a
cracked mirror-
see myself, ugly,
grinning at it all.
what matters most is
how well you
walk through the
fire.
