one thing in life
that i have found
it's easier to live
when you breathe in and out

it's easier to see
when you open your eyes
and to believe
the truth over lies

it's easier to take
adding a smidgen of faith
and a touch of love
to help keep hate at bay

just a few things
i often find
that make it much easier
to make it through life
on a sunlit pond did float
many an elegant lotus
their rafts drifting serenely
in the lambent beams
If you still have them around... write them a note. This was 26 years ago. I owe my life to her.

To My Mother
It is your 84th birthday today and I take this time to say, I love you. As I think back to my childhood days, it brings back good feelings of the times we had together.
I remember like it was yesterday the warmth when you held me close.  The nap times when you were beside me while I went to sleep. No greater love can a Mother show than just being there when needed.
I remember coming home from school and finding you about the house.  All was well then and I could go play. There was a ‘something’ about that, which I want my kids to know.
I remember the trust you bestowed on me when I started high school. It was an awesome responsibility to never betray that trust. The lessons learned has carried me through many a rough spot. It shaped my life so that the decisions I made would not cause you pain.
If it were not for your prayers over my 47 years, I shudder to think where I would be today. Thank you for showing me the way and living it with me.
You have molded four lives for which you can take pride. I thank you for making me the person I am today.
Thank You Mom. Happy Birthday!
( written April 1991 )
When I entered the ninth grade my mother said to me "you're old enough to make your own decisions now all I ask is will you discuss them with me." And I did.
Each and everything happens for a reason,
God has each and every detail in place,
Whether in a good or bad season,
When you walk with him, you're walking the right pace..
Its beautiful how everything turns out to happen for the good of those who love God,
So in worrying we gain nothing, nothing, nothing.
But in trust we become bold,
And have nothing to lose, for in our minds he has it all under control, therefore we do not lose but gain everything.
This is how you write a poem
When you're holding nothing
Find a line and set to rhyme
Until it sounds like something

Settle on a subject
Although you may not know it
You might want to Google
So that you don't blow it

Hopefully you have spell check
So you're not labeled an idiot
If you lack in the vocab
Go back to the Google bit

Do it all for the fun and
Keep those rhymes a coming
That's pretty much how you write
A poem straight out of nothing
when we go back in time,
will we find something that is familiar?
will we find a sign?
will we find moments that we can remember?

when our hope is lost,
will we find a way to make it work?
will we care how much it costs?
if we try maybe we'll find our luck.

we will see what others can't see,
just remember,
we can also be what others can't be,
and still be who we are.
She has a new poet in mind
One she likes better than me
Fills up her time with mostly love rhymes
Satisfies her poetic needs

Leaving me stuck in mid-verse
Stumbling over all of my words
It used to be me that she'd only read
At what time did my rhyme take a turn for the worse

She has a new poet in mind
One that now fills up her time
Makes her feel special and no telling what else
Enticing her with the smoothest of lines

Never did I stand a chance
Left here with pen and paper in hand
He writes about rainbows and lord telling who knows
Where now she's his number one fan

She has a new poet in mind
Leaving this one behind
Could I have been napping when all of this happened
As I never saw the metaphorical signs
