Got Guanxi
It took me long time to start writing again,
so I started by lifting my pen.
Keep it simple i said,
and in a second I was inspired.

At one point I was frightened I might not write again, or find the time.
I was in a different place and the moment changed in a second, and in my mind time was mine again.

Life took over and work just became me. Some choose to and some have to, it's a crying shame.

Now I'm close to where I need to be,
So I can be free and enlightened and back to the moments that I'll always hold closest to my heart and soul.

So those targets and goals were temporary,
but it turns out it's not what you have but who you are that remains permanently ingrained in your memory.
So glad to be writing again even though it's just a small piece
I use to see lines in waves, but now, they are straight.

The sun effortlessly seeped through the tree as I read poetry.

I went to be alone. Also, the silence was nice. Then the twigs snapped and deer gathered around the woods.

A cooling feeling rushed throughout my body.
This, was normal for them.
The silence, the green. The peacefulness.

You see, my life was catastrophic.
The vocal waves were a constant thing in my life. Like sadness.

One day I would be dear. Happy, and calm.

The next, I would be Nemo finding my way back to where I belong.

Always pay attention
When someone else is speaking
If it didn't mean something to them
They wouldn’t talk about it at all

Always listen closely
For the answers you are seeking,
May be closer than you think
Found in the ramblings of that call

Imagine if you will
A world where everyone cared
Where they leaned ear in intently
Instead of filling our heads with doubt

Maybe we'd all be happier;
Collectively less scared
We could solve all of life's problems
If we just heard everybody out

You see confidence builds greatness
Yet we continue to put each other down
Jealousy and rage keep us from turning the page
Even when the story could teach us something profound
I lost my innocence in a battle of wits
Over a dinner of boiled rice and fried meats
His debate ground my overrated intelligence to bits
But it wasn't time, I wouldn't call it quits

We went on to the starlit, moonful park
We weren't sightseeing, I had to hit my mark
Everything I said was turned down with a reasonable reason
The more I tried to win the more I kept losing

We walked and talked and I realized
That our supposedly romantic dinner had been politicized
As we stood on my porch and called it a night
His lips touched mine, I didn't put up a fight

I laid a final claim in regards to our banter
His keen eyes widened I'd given him something to ponder
Later that night, I received his call
He asked for a rematch, I smiled, there'd be another date after all

Got Guanxi
The smell of wood polish;
sprayed unevenly on the counter top,
brought you back to life.
Back down from heaven and earth into my mind,
where you had evaded me for the longest time.
An aroma of you.
My Great Grandma.
The Greatest Grandma,
I smelt that wood polish and your memory came alive again.
For one final time.
I closed my eyes,
I was a child,
and it was almost like
you came back to life.
A cigarette and coffee
As I decide how to approach this day
Wondering if there will be hurdles to jump
What obstacles will be in my way

I try to be optimistic
But I know how life works
Not everyone is nice
Some people are jerks

But the sun is shining
I don't dare turn on the tv
Things seem pretty easy-going
I don't need that ruined for me

A lot of times we forget
That things are a lot better than they seem
Don't get caught up in the *******
Instead of living the dream

This waking life isn't as terrible
As some make it out to be
We just have to take time to notice
When things are right
Instead of just when they are wrong

Love today
Because tomorrow may never come
