It's a hole,
An abyss,
A seemingly endless pit of nothingness.
No light...
No air...
It's the very core of darkness.
You see no shadows,
but you feel their cold embrace.
You hear no voices,
but your thoughts fear their screams.

Your mind becomes the cruelest of all things.
Drawing up the allusion of beast's.
The ones that hide between the walls;
knocking while you drift off to sleep.
The ones that slip under the bed,
as soon as the lights wink out.
As soon as you full up the sheets...

The dark is the place of terrifying imagination.
Were your worst dreams become reality.
There is no escape, for you are blind.
Only the monsters know where you are.
And- and they are there.
Waiting for you to shut off the light,
for the sun to die...
For the dark.
For you to bring them to life.
A poetry writing prompt: Write a poem that will make the reader fear the dark...

Here is my try. Are you scared yet? I hope so. :P

This was fun to do. I encourage others to try this out.

We break.
We lie.
We steal.
We deny.
We take peoples secrets and throw them to the wind.
Allowing them to be consumed by whomever shall catch them.
We laugh when others fall.
And ignore their pleaded calls.
We are monsters wearing human skin.
Wolves in sheepskin.
We are destroyers of all things good.
And yet we pretend we are all just misunderstood.
That our cruelty is somehow justified.
By someone else's lack of compromise.
We break.
We lie.
We steal.
We deny.
We are raising children to follow suit.
Telling them to, "only think about you".
We teach them morals that are wrong.
And dance with glee when they follow along.
We are in joy of another broken generation.
Glad that we could be apart of an already crumbling nation.
We are sick.
We are sin.
Blind to our own parts in this worlds destruction.
We break.
We lie.
We steal.
We deny.
This world is ripping at the seams.
We are living in our own worst dreams.
We think we're safe from the end.
But that's a lie for destruction is exactly what we intend.
We are ruthless and dumb.
For believing we will be saved when, God decides to come.
And what really makes me disappointed
Is that our entire existence can be summed up in just four sentences.
We break.
We lie.
We steal.
We deny.
I'm re-posting this because I feel as if it needs to be shared. We live in such a lost world; where bad is good, and wrong is right. We are toeing a fine line, my friends. Our next generation can't be this way.

We're all leaning towers.
Never quite perfect.
But still we are beautiful
with our own crooked defects.
We are all beautifully made... even if we happen to lean a bit. ;)

You grabbed my chest and ripped it open,
Until my heart- all I was, fell on the linoleum.
My lungs were full, so with careful precision,
You used a scalpel and made an incision.
For an agonizing time I waited...
As you slowly took me apart and left me debilitated.
You looked at my parts and with a close inspection
You tossed out the ones that weren't perfection.
Then you began to reassemble me, with parts that were new.
While you repeatedly told me how much better they would do.
I believed all of your words and didn't question it.
But once they were in, my chest hurt, and they felt unfit.
I wanted them out, and my old pieces back.
But you said that wouldn't work, I couldn't back track.
Now I'm stuck with pieces that don't fully fit me.
Because I fell into the worlds description of who I should be.
Do NOT conform to what the world thinks you should be. Be you. Be the person God made you! And love it with all your heart. Because you're His masterpiece.

Poetry
takes on
a life
of its own
and has the inherent
unseen
connection
with all those
willing
to receive it.

To all those
wonderful
kindred spirits
out there
who take the time
to receive
what's in our hearts
and minds

who make us feel
so not
alone
.....

and though
what we say
may not be
profound
we are treated
with value

that we
belong.

Blessings

You are my star.
Even after you're gone.
You will still shine your light on my life,
for many, many years to come.
Who's you star?
Ravanna Dee Sep 2016
Like,
the burning scent
of a cinnamon candle,
you are my familiar
deep breath
of home.
When you're missing someone...
