the morning
Chrissy C Aug 2021
sunlight peeks through the curtains
stealing me from slumber.
my eyes open
dazed by the rays of a new day.
his body beside mine
near though oceans apart.
we swim away from the sun
through treacherous waters back to dawn.
dawn
where we are everything and anything but still.
still is the morning,
our rapid current at rest.
pause
my mind slips away.
thoughts of a perpetual dawn
where the morning never comes.

Lucky Charm Days
Chrissy C Sep 2019
Dithering ways, perpetual haze;
All this I'd trade for my lucky charm days.
Before pink pocket pills and cold coffee spills
filled the mundane mornings.
Lucky charm days,
I always thought you would stay.
I starve for tomorrow
but sip on yesterday.
You and I know what tastes sweet seldom stays.

the sun will rise again
Chrissy C Mar 2019
The wind wrestles with my hair and fills my cheeks with pink.
The thickness of the day surrenders to the coolness of the night.
Fleeting hues of violet and yellow set my heart on fire--a promise of warmth.
The world is still.
But the fire goes out and the shadows flood in:
unveiling the deepest depths of darkness.
And yet, the stars scream out:
The sun will rise again,
The sun will rise again.

Adam and Eve
Chrissy C Mar 2019
Lips of an angel,
Ethereal eyes.
Her curls entangle,
The cause of my demise.

I long to be closer,
To know her mind.
Our fingertips whisper,
And our hearts abide.

We grab the forbidden fruit,
Temptations give in.
Let us taste and devour,
For tonight we sin.

coffee or tea
Chrissy C Mar 2019
We should get coffee unless you drink tea
I'll still order coffee--two sugars, you'll see.
If we go for coffee and you order tea,
We'll sip on our silence
It'll taste bitter but sweet.
If you order tea, is it hot or cold?
Raspberry or lemon? Am I coming off too bold?
I'll always drink coffee, I'll never get tea.
I crave the sensation and steaming caffeine.
When I order coffee and you sip your tea,
We'll talk about music, classic rock, maybe indie?
We won't sit too close, but we won't be too far.
I'll wonder if you're like me and hate going to the bar.
We should get coffee even if you drink tea,
I'll know you got raspberry because you'll kiss me.
