The evenings are getting darker earlier
Each afternoon I watch as the light fades
And the moon closes in
Until it wraps us all in a shroud of cold
The fingerlike tendrils of shadow
Snatching up each street
One by one
I don't mean to quote a well known book
But I do believe
That winter is coming
