what we had is like a single lit cigarette:

it gave a temporary high,

it helped me breath even if it was just for awhile;

a takeaway from stress.

it was relaxing.

but like a cigarette,

it was short lived,

temporary.

memories like ashes, falling unto the pavement as if nothing happened;

a fleeting moment of vulnerability, of apatheticness.

sadly, i’m a chainsmoker.

i know how unhealthy it is for me,

how it’ll **** me in the long run,

to keep asking for more.

but,

i yearn nothing more but to have a cigarette between my fingers.

especially yours.
