Doubting my true potential to shine,
Lacking the confidence to survive.

A soft blow will knock me over,
Collapsing as I am unstable.

Hiding to avoid showing weakness,
Scared to expose any signs of fear.

Attempting to display strength,
But fragility is easily noticeable.

Fighting to earn back optimism,
Trying to see bright colors.

Defeating the darkness requires courage,
A force that’s within myself and others.

Admitting that help is needed,
A trait that is hard to possess when frail.

Once I can reach out for assistance,
Recovery from vulnerability is possible.
