i remember you
your toned muscles
and your smooth chin
my fingers would slide down it like a sheet of paper on a river of melted butter

i remember when you left
it felt like my heart was breaking
splitting in two like a fault line
an earthquake overtook me
take cover.

i remember when you called me again
you sounded happy
like you had found something better
a better life without me

i remember when i hung up on you
i needed - and need - something more
something that only self-love can bring me
i don't need you
but i know what i do need
caring
