i left out the back door at 6 a.m.
i was dazed and a little drunk.
the ground was wet and the moon still
hung high in the sky.
i thought a wave might have came out of the
sky and swept me away into the dark of the morning.
or i thought as i was walking across the street to my car
i might turn around and see you standing on thefront porch
with the moon still in the sky, watching me leave.
i guess both ideas were equally as possible.
i could almost hallucinate you
like a dream.
and all i wanted that night was for you
to pull me back into the house
in the warmth of your bed,
where i lied alone
most of the summer wishing
you were there.
then i wondered if i would ever stop
wishing for you, cause i had to.
