Ever since I met you
I had this feeling.
It is called "love" I'm sure.

But there's this mask
Hiding your identity.
Is this feeling pure?

This half of me
You somehow tolerate,
Please, the pain is more than I can endure.

You say you love me as a whole;
That either side is the same.

So how come when
I take off this mask
You're words are in vain.

This red string of fate
Ties us together.
Our efforts to understand each other isn't in shame.

However, I never let you in;
Never showed you my other self,
So am I the one to blame?

This confusing love,
Only half of a whole.

We fit together like puzzle pieces
We adore each other so,
But we don't know who's hearts we stole.

This shadow of mine
Is apart of me,
But it's getting a little old.

Together, let's set them free
Together, let's rip off these masks
Together, let's love our entire souls.
This was inspired by a show called Miraculous Ladybug. The main protagonists love each other, but don't know because they aren't aware who's behind the mask. The girl likes the civilian-form boy and the boy likes the heroine-form girl. The poem is trying to express both of their thoughts, not just one, so it might be a little confusing. The first three stanzas are the male's thoughts. Then the next three are the female's. The rest is their thoughts combining as one. Hope you liked it!
