Oh how we danced
In the flashing storm
Wind swept hair brushed my face
Scented like lilies
Rouge lips pressed on and against my own
The rain came then
Soaking our bones
And we smiled
Yes. We smiled.
In each other’s arms
Lost in love in the
flashing storm

God! How we cheated Death!
How we laughed at his face!
With reckless, wild abandon
we came into the night
and the natural world played for us a cacophony of sound
a storm symphony
of clattering branches, of tapping rain
The thunder roared in a baritone.
We smiled and we danced
and we were free!
nothing mattered
In the flashing storm
