The stars descend
The angels weep for them.
The missing constellations
create vacancy in the eventide.
I see it in my eyes also,
The emptiness.
Like a deity I shall fall back to earth.
For my head has been clouded.
Rain clouds.
The rain of angel's tears.
As their wings are clipped.
They fall too.

I know you're bad for me
no, scratch that
I know you're killing me

Each time I breathe you in
I exhale as violently as I can
desperately compensating for my shame
But your dark fingerprints linger

I know that if I drink too much,
I will find you between my dry lips,
their cracks, formed by the action of spitting you out
providing inroads for your thick, stifling presence

Someone keeps writing about you in my notebook
but whoever it is seems scared to pen your name
You spent endless time
at your desk in the sun porch.
After your diagnosis we
turned the porch into
your own personal scrapbook room.
I could tell you didn’t
think about your disease
when you were in there crafting
because of how focused
you always looked when at work;

lips puckered out, oblivious
to the commotion of our backyard.
You were granted God’s greatest gift
to see the end of your
days as you wished.
You did just that.
The memory of you lives on
in all those whose lives you touched.

When you left we didn’t
know what to do with
the overwhelming heap
of scrapbook materials
you accumulated over the years.

They took up too much space
that could be used for other things
like furniture and storage.
Plus, they were hard to
look at without being
swarmed with empty
thoughts and sadness. But,
we didn’t want all these
valuable accessories to go to
waste, forever forgotten.

When it came to deciding
what to do with your
leftover supplies, we knew
we couldn’t toss them out.
We wanted them to carry out
their intended purpose
just as you would have
had time permitted.

The Ronald McDonald House
in Minneapolis had an unused room
they were looking to fill—
we knew that was it.
We donated nearly all your supplies
there and now that empty room
is a scrapbook room bearing your name;
carrying on an important piece of you
so other families can
craft memories into treasures—
just as I carry a treasured
piece of you wherever I go.

I stand at the feet
of this stunning sunset,
The sparks in my eyes,
light each star.

Rhythm of each twinkle,
synced with that of my own.
          Strong and sure,
          albeit few and far.

Nameless wind brings to me,
stories of silky clouds
I pull your smile deep in my heart
and finally can breathe.

Familiar words
          without cloaks nor shrouds.
          Just words...
Yours and mine to reveal what
          our hearts would unsheathe.

What day is this?
Perfect to find
the rebirth of
freshly dewed dreams.

It isn't yesterday
          nor is it tomorrow
          It's today...
Where the sun would see us
          weave our tapestries
          through promise-bound seams.

I feel deep in my heart,
a fluttery stirring,
A hope,
a strength to reach out to you.

This hope you speak of...
Tethered by no thread or string
          Mending my universe
          and making it new.

          So now I stand
at the end of this set...
          Seeking the beacon
          that I had known.
I'd again brave through this day
          tomorrow...
Just so that I could hear your heart
          that beats with my own...

As the violet of day
draws to a close...
Witnessed the dwindling
vermillion sun,
being swallowed
by the horizon.
Ever so slowly,
       seconds stretched...
      This moment here...
Captured...
and
froze.

    Brushing off
the indigos
  and
blues.
of the past,
            Whilst I shed these
scarlet tears.
Burdened with
              unfounded speculation
and fears.
Gifted the
lease of bravery
but I know...
it wouldn't last.

A final skirmish
between
night and light.
My crimson wings
spread to greet the.
green evening air.
Feather and wind.
spoke to each other;
quivered as if
the same story
they shared.
A conversation
              that ended quickly before
both took
flight.

To the
highest heavens,
leaving a
trail of leaves
from days of
yellow...
  Flying past the
                 blushing orange cheeks
  of
sleeping clouds.
             Evading the beckoning
of
    night's curtains
and
shrouds.
    Into the sun,
I would go.
                Beyond world's end,
           I would follow...

To find you
                  where the universe
                      would run its course.
                      I'd gladly soar through
       spectrum's grain,
Through
      unfamiliar realms
and
              warped new planes.

Why?

Because
blood red
rubies
pump
through mine
and
garnets
flow
      through yours...
