K Balachandran
Every flower in this garden is laden with star dust
if the eyes that see can travel a bit far in time,
each cell,  remember, is a fractal, a microcosm,
death and immortality, in it encapsulated
Shiva's dance of ecstasy seems to bring
disintegration, beginning of a new cycle of creation,
each moment is in a flux, you and me  and all others
are the ingredients of steaming cosmic soup.

You are my impermanence most kindly defined
complement written in the poetic cadence of feminine,
exact to the appropriate meter, rhyming pattern, perfect
dance of alliteration and at times beauty of truculence,
I am a blank verse, keeping infinity contained
in the only way possible, captured in its grand simplicity
pearls of zen gleaming all over, the intuitive sense
of internal rhythm reigns, touching the primordial boom
music to the soul in frequencies higher, unknowable
reverberating through the cosmic star dust refulgence.

His devilish smile
yet the grin I miss
The dark side of him
love and hate
Kind of romantic
dangerous but kind
strange aura of love..

The hard face yet the soft-eyes
magnetic those seducing eyes
my heaven and earth

mysteriously romantic
a fatal attraction
and against all odds
the devil inside him
this devil I love...

if I were the rain I could
touch your face
and blend in with
the tears you've cried,
I could gently wash away
your pain and comfort you
on winter nights.
if I were the sun I could
keep you warm
and make sure every day
was bright.
I would wrap you up
in sunny rays and capture
you and hold you tight.
if I were the wind, I could
play with your hair,
blow you away, take you
everywhere.
but I'm just a girl with
a broken heart, and it
beats for you, and
you'll never care.
if I were the moon, I could
light the sky, and watch
over you from up above --
but I'm just a girl,
I can't offer much.
I don't have the world --
but I'll give you love.

I jump, I fall
I slip, I crawl

I laugh I cry
I fail but try

I dance without care
Pretty clothes I wear

I walk alone
So happy on my own

Then I catch your sight
You hold me tight

You kiss, I faint
My dreams you paint

With promises anew
Together we grew

So in love till now
We take our vows

I breathe with ease
I sleep in peace

Only in my dreams
Reality doesn't scream!

-Zainab Attari
Reflecting on life, on becoming a wife
Constraints of a marriage
That will end in a carriage
And me in the back boxed in
Awaiting the ground all damp and brown
A coffin with flowers atop
Flowers not in the ground growing,
But, dying and withering along with the cadaver
Already dead, already going off.

Do you think of the body in the box?
Do you reflect on a life that is lost?
Or do you just turn up on the day
Stare at the display, and know sooner than you think
It'll be you in a box, full of stink?

tonight the shadows ate the moon
i sat there in awe as it was slowly consumed
little by little the brightness was devoured
and behind the shadows, the moon never cowered
the blood moon shined
as the sun and moon aligned
and the moonlight becomes you
you too are consumed
eyes bright and full of wonder
the cold wind makes you shudder
make a wish as the last sliver disappears .
let the music of the night fill your ears
