bear
lisa Apr 2019
hair curled
mascara clumped beyond belief
deep brown eyes practically closing
turquoise polo
horse in the corner
fake crystalline necklace
dark blue knee skirt
***** white tights
too big flats

the cusp of eleven years old
going to her first concert
philip philips
austin mahone
owl city
kissmas bash

dancing
singing
crowded souls

bladder filling up
desperately searching
for relief
wandering aimlessly
alone

relief at last
walking back
pep in her step
alone

hands grip her sides
big hands
looking up
burly bear
stranger

"shush,
little one,"
bear whispers,
"it's alright."

so she does
confusion
spreads through her

eleven years old
exposed
shattered
never the same

big bear
got away
completely okay
while
goldilocks
breaking down
forever

my diamond
lisa Apr 2019
searching and searching
desperately searching
year after year
finally,
you broke the surface
my diamond

your shiny personality
dazzled me
your gifts
wowed me
the endless love
fulfilled me
my diamond

however,
despite the love i gave
i could not break through
your armor
my diamond

turns out
everything was a lie
your "i love you"s
meant nothing
our kisses
our time shared
the secrets i told
meant nothing
to you

you were not a diamond
instead,
a moissanite

faking your way
through life
lying about your family
your health
your education

yet,
i still want you,
my diamond

raccoons
lisa Apr 2019
"Look before you cross the street,"
Mother said,
"or you'll get run over
by a speeding semi
and your body will become flat.
No paramedic will be able to scrap
your body off the ground.
Only raccoon's claws can
remove your body.
A perfect road pizza.
They'll drag your flat corpse
to their homes,
fry you up,
using the bread that they
got from the garbage as toppings
and eat you for dinner.
