You were alive
Millions of years ago
As the stars
As a tiny amoeba
A primitive zygote
With a group of cyanobacteria dancing
In brackish waters, ready to explode
Onto land with hands and sweat glands
And here you are today
Bipedal, vocal, resourceful and continuing
to evolve
beautifully

I can sit and twirl my hair until
My fingers are caught and tangled
In there like a dolphin in a net or a
Little bead of sweat stuck in a pore
- though I don't
Think many beads of sweat would
Make an attractive necklace - I can
Smear my fears on the mirror in here
But I can't get rid of the fact that
I'm unable to find the hidden track
That a black cat means a heart attack
And a scratched back leans towards
A knack of lacking a gift for words in
The pitch black, hatchback, backseat
tours

Q
Puppeteers, mastering strings
Playing with the minds
Of the sentient beings
Like the Q Continuum
Popping in and out in omnipotence
No doubt gods
In their own right
A universal vibrato
Effervescent and bright
Giving each quasar
An enchanted light
The Science of Everything
The Existence of Nothing
Solipsism and narcissism
Drop kick 'em and nark on 'em
But don't let go
It's wondrous out there

The atoms that make up
The outermost layer of my skin
Repel yours the least
In some sort of metaphoric nuclear fusion
Though we may not release photons
With each touch
And we're not quite travelling fast enough
To create such an explosive reaction
In a physical sense
It seems that you still turn
my mass
into energy

Rushing and torn
Stuck in the accretion
disk - it's grabbing, tighter
and tighter and tighter until
fission takes hold, like a piece
of spaghetti - waving to its own
sauce
thinking
This certainly is an eventful horizon

Rust and red consumed
A planet pumping iron
Forging RNA

A quick collision
Blasting out extremophiles
Pleased to meet you, Earth

There are 10 kinds of people in this world,
and binary accounts for them all.

They're happy and sad.
They're ones and zeros.
Villains and heroes.
Villains, yet not all bad.
Despite everything life decides to hurl;
Despite every brick ball of fear
Through the stained glass windows of their minds,
Through it all, they survive.
They're angry and glad.
They're happy and sad.

And in their duality, they're still smiling there
at your sharp hasty words
at your venomous hurt
that you wish so desperately they, too, shared.
Love thy enemy.

Special thanks to Kelley A Vinal for the binary inspiration. You can read her poetry here: http://hellopoetry.com/kelley-a-vinal/

It's pretty solid.

Edit: Holy Daily, Batman! Wow, I'm so honored. Glad you all like it so much! :D
