Ciel Noir
What other kind              of creature could divide
Each different thing             into its different sides
With chaos versus             order, dark and light
The stark duality of         wrong and right
We even split the very        world in two
With human versus human,       we and you
But still no matter how much      we divide
Each thing has infinitely many      sides

If
If
I were to be a star
brandish words
Like a gunslinger
Shoots the eye out a fly
At fifty yards
Or tease the ears
Of every maiden near
And far
If
I were to
Write a novel
And thereby
Be rich with
Not a care in this
World
If
I had power like
God to Change the past
And predict the future,
My love, DiAnne,
The only thing
If
I had all those things
I would do
Would be to
Make heaven on
Earth.
And you and I
Could live there
Now.
If
I had all my wishes
I wouldn't
Have to
Wish
For you.
You would be in
My arms.

apart from me
a part of me
you lay-
somewhere in between.
floating oh so
carefully, in
a neutral, languid
purgatory.

as you speak, your
words float past,
here today
and gone so fast.
tell me, dear
which conversation
will be our last?

not that I care,
I simply don't
have the energy to.
besides,
it doesn't mean
that much to me
to mean that
much to you.

though down
the rabbit hole
I go
and the other side
breaking through.
for Alice doesn't
concern herself
over the
attention she
garners from
a mere shrew.
here there and everywhere, nobody in particular and everyone at the same time

Dressed in titillating shades
and the allure of today...
Bent back...
Dragging
the tattered tassels
of yesterday’s folly.

Sporting a mask
adorned with
the most lavish
of paints albeit a husk
that once sang proud,
the colours
of his anthem.

His smile incites
the reciprocation
from those around...
Yet it’s all but
plastic.

An ascot of the finest silk.
Soft and extravagant yet...
Tied too close to skin -
a noose around the neck
that wears him instead.

He is a ghost.
A hapless man
dressed in the present,
looks to the future
but wades through
the murks
of the past.

Have you seen him lately?
