Forgetfully Observant
Jess Sep 2015
I am forgetful but I notice everything
I will notice the way your irises contract
In and out when you look at me
But will forget to do my laundry
For a few weeks
I will notice the shape and
Texture of your lips
But will forget to stop
Picking at my face
I will notice the way your voice changes
When it's only you and me
But will forget to buy toothpaste
At the grocery store
I will notice the way your body is curved,
The way our mismatched fingers interlock,
The way you hold me as if intending to never let go,
The way you smell like fresh linen,
The slow beat of your fragile yet fighting heart
But will forget to mention these things to you,
I notice small details about you every day
Even if you think I don't
I forget a lot of things
But you are something I could never
Forget

Kissing her was like breathing for the first time
A breath of fresh air being invited into your lungs
Something that made you think so loud
You thought your eardrums were going to fall off
There's a faint hum of music in the back and
You want to remember this moment
Wrap yourself up
But all you can think about is
The silence consuming you as you try to
Figure her out
What she's all about
How she'd feel if it happened again
How she'd feel if her truth began to bend
The way she looks at you is unlike any other
With eyes like honey and sugar
You could drown in something so sweet
With her you're undefeated
And that's the way it should be, right?
But how about on this very night
Where all you want to do is bury yourself in her
Make her feel loved
Make her feel like she's an angel from above
This kind of undefeated breaks all
You thought you knew
For falling asleep with her in my arms
Shattered all I thought I knew
But that's okay
That's fine
The next morning she was there and
I got to stroke her beautiful hair
Speak in low tones
Our lips close
Temptations of this manner is one I've never known
So I'll take it as it comes whether it be
In waves or dipping my toes in an ocean
But kissing you was like breathing for the first time
A breath of fresh air being invited into my lungs

My Sun
Jess Sep 2015
You are my sun
I am your moon
We lie under our sky
Singing an endless tune
There's a whisper of the wind
That ruffles our hair
And an everlasting warmth
That follows us everywhere
If it's the only thing I say
This I know to be true
The moon was made for the sun
As I am made for you

Lust is Friday Night
Love is Saturday Morning
On Friday we stayed up until 4am
Talking
Laughing
Kissing lips, necks, *******
Breathing into one another
Pleasure filling both of our bodies
I have never known the meaning of desire
Until I wanted every part of you
Connected to me
These two hands are far from gentile
This night has proven that true
With nails digging into your back at
The slightest feeling of euphoria
With hair pulling
And hearts pumping --
Beating to the beat of the same drum
Then the slow decline of it all
Your hands moving from the small of my back
To my small earth hands
Peacefully, the world laid us down

On Saturday we woke at 9:33am
With heavy eyes and a rough voice
You managed a "good morning"
Still intertwined in my bed
I could feel your warmth and
You figure imitating mine
I rolled over to see you staring back at me and
You kissed me so softly
It was as if an angel had graced my lips
I silently thought to myself how
Beautiful and young we are
How lucky I am to get to wake
Next to you
To get to experience you in the vulnerable
Light of the morning
To get to kiss you with morning breath and
Tangled hair and
Dewey faces
I knew this was the kind of the morning
I could never tire of
December 29th, 2014 11:00pm. My ideal night. My ideal morning.
