You follow all these twisting lines and wonder why your
      thoughts derail

I can hear a sirens call and my ship ends up nowhere.

Take it back and take it in
           Only time can tell.

      I found you there again
          In our sanctuary's light.

The lamp is dim and the
           Road is quiet,

Just as a far away night.

I can take a magic sign and bury all the neglect,
I will make a memory of everything we've kept.
Have you ever
wondered why
distant thoughts
make you cry
The man on the phone
told him that rent was due
by five o'clock
rent which was not there
but five was seven hours away
and he had this feeling
that seven hours was a good distance
to put between him and Richmond
so he packed up his clothes
his old jeans and plaid button downs
and his typewriter
that old clunky *******
which made such sweet music
he stuffed it all into a backpack
and left his keys in the apartment
as the door closed for him
for the last time

He left Virginia behind
and headed west
he spent a night or two in Memphis
drinking cheap bourbon from a plastic bottle
and dancing with some pretty little thing
as Johnny Cash played over the radio
He took his car
and passed through
Fort Smith Arkansas
but he didn't stay too long
He made a few bucks
cleaning glasses in a ****** old bar
in Oklahoma City
sleeping in the small room
upstairs
He made it to Amarillo Texas
and thought that he might just stay
under the dead pan
Texas sun
but he was restlessly being chased
by his memories and fears
His car broke down
in Albuquerque
so he hopped on a train
heading to Phoenix
but Phoenix was tough
and alien
and he got footloose
real quick
He hitched out of there
with a ****** cardboard sign
which read simply
"West"
and he met some strangers
and made some new friends
before he found himself
in fallen angel country
Hollywood heart breaks
and smog covered starlight
with no more road left to travel
he'd been coast to coast
he settled down
like the pioneers who came before him
and burned his maps
just a *****,
road weary,
traveler
with a typewriter
and dusty worn jeans
a traveler who made his way home
her mouth
was a mouth
full of apologies
her forearms
are bruised
with misunderstandings
her mascara runs
with storm cloud rain drops
her brain
echoes over and over
you made me do this
Oh Daddy,
these dark rooms
can't hide me from you
her friends all just think she's clumsy
nobody thought to ask
nobody dreamed of it
she found an old .38
in a shoe box
under the stairs
it was cold and heavy
like every single breath taken
she couldn't **** him
she loved him
which is more than she could say
for herself
with a gun metal click
the calm before the storm
before the end
of all things
bang bang
she's dead
a lone bullet in her head
no more apologies
or misunderstandings
no more sad thunder storms
she was no more
the world is wrapped in plastic
and our feelings can be found
through a binary language
in the internet web of deceit
and the only thing we feel strongly about
is our own apathy
and maybe our phones
the culture's obsession with Zombies
makes sense if art mirrors life
we walk around looking through empty glass eyes
and make fake relationships
with people
who barely even exist
we grow up
and fill the shoes
which were left for us
at different points
on our journeys
generations of Russian nesting dolls
the few of us who want to live
are drowned in debt and ***** looks
and Jesus Christ
one day we'll be in charge
of the entire ******* planet
just think about that
i am not firm
and we are not like-minded
and maybe we are wrong
or care just right

you are not merciful
you are angry
and vengeful
and appreciative
at the wrong moments
and so curious
with the wrong questions

and i am not patient
but am ill tempered
and am made of estrogen
and progesterin
and every night at 7pm
7:05 7:23
i release more
and want to cry alot

we are bad breath in the morning
and secret geatures and pet names
and we are bread and soy
and lazy individuals
and i need hugs
and you need me
Love is a terrible thing.
A horrid and invisible thing.
The one thing that defies the human
Fear of the unknown
Oh but we want to know it.
We want to see it to hold it
So badly that over the millions of years
Of both our and its existence
We have died for it, killed for it
Begged and sobbed on our hands and knees for it
This invisible force of good feelings and warmth
That we think circles tangibly around us-
Swims and ebbs around our fellow man
Connecting us all and touching the lucky ones
But it isn’t enough.
We want to see it.
We want love to take a form we can mimic
And hold forever
So over the years we have thrown things at it.
Hoping love could somehow catch it
Be consumed by it, covered in it
Its illusive form reveled to us finally
With our clever trick
Writers douse it with ink
Artists with paint
Bakers with flour
Churches with gospels and white ropes
And smartest of all
Teenagers, who throw at it their own bodies
Hoping to trap it somewhere
Between both of their naked beings
Those teenagers  who don’t have anything else to offer it yet
Nothing to throw at it
Nothing to lose in it yet
Still thinking love isn’t a terrible thing.
Consider this a caustic remark,

You
behave
as
though
you
won't,
&
You
behave
as
though
you
can't
live,
Without me.

You
Often
Try
To
Soothe
Yourself,
&
You
Usually
Try
To
Calm
Yourself.

But
Actually
You
Need
Me
As
An
Escape
From
Your
Apprehensions
About
The
Various
Spiritual
Concepts.

So
It's
Just
That
You
Need
Me!
Not knowing that it's me actually who needs you to recognize me

Time is like a leap of faith
something i have never known before
Time is a clock on my door
times that i have cherish mean more
          to me, than ever before
          times that came and went
like a sea lapping on a shore
          now to me mean more
but it is just time you see

WAS and WAS     NO MORE.
i loved you, back then
but now the love tastes bitter and scalded
i still think of you, all the time
of the days back when you were Mine

because there was a time,
when i used to run around Fearless,
knowing what we had was a perfect little
Love Story

your Starlight shined to me
and although i still remain Invisible to you
i'll still forever adore you,
although your State of Grace has now fallen

i wanted you to stay forever sixteen,
i wanted you to Never Grow Up
i wanted you to Stay
Stay, Stay

The Way I Loved You was intense,
and so, so easy; Untouchable,
but jealousy has spiralled in and out,
and out of my control

you comforted a girl whose world had been shattered
around her by divorce, depression
and instability
you allowed her to Breathe

now i'm stuck, stuck on The Outside
where it's bitter and cold
Treacherous, even
Everything Has Changed

so Long Live
those times I used to share with you
because they're not my own anymore
and they were truly The Best Day(s)

And when I think Tim McGraw,
yes
of course
I do think of you
