love is hard
you put your everything into someone and hope they don't throw it back in your face
you make memories that are nearly impossible to forget and hope they don't give you a reason to want to forget them
you give them your heart and hope they don't rip it apart
you fall and hope they catch you before you hit the ground
but love is *worth it

I want to write a poem
That will set you free from harm
I want to write a poem
That you can hold nicely in your arms
I want to write a poem
That has it's own personality
I want my poem to dance freely
On the edge of imagination and reality
I want it's softness to put you to sleep
I want it to hold you with it's warmth
I want it to entertain you with it's playfulness
I want it to be the readers friend

I pulled an all-nighter.
For an insomniac
That doesn't seem like
Such a great thing,
But there's a difference.
Staying up all night
Because I can't fall asleep
Is immensely different
From staying up
Because I'm trying not to sleep.
And you know that as an insomniac
I love sleep
Because it's so fleeting
Like whispers of wind
Slipping through my fingers--
Practically impossible to grasp!
And despite this...

I pulled an all-nighter
*Because I was waiting for you.
How do you un-love someone?
How do you forget the way they walked, laughed and cried?
How do you turn off the ache in your heart at their memory?
How do you walk away, knowing that they never felt for you?

Do you repeat daily a ritual of pretence?
Do you cry at the beauty you've lost?
Do you call yourself a fool?
Do you look in the mirror and ask why?

Why did you not love me?
Why did I not get seen?
Why did you just want to be friends?
Why does it hurt? Still? Time is supposed to heal.
