Learn Thy Trade
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
From minute settlements, to towns of trade

Yet without warning, a sudden raid

A venture into foreign lands

The walls and gates of Viking hands

To labour on, as understood

Homes we build, prepare thy wood

Address the strength of near rooftops

For there beneath lay our workshops

Commence the plan, we have devised

Perfect thy craft and specialize

Protect the home, o’ dearest wives

We venture out, to honour lives

I make thy comb, you make thy shoe

With silver weighed, we shall accrue

Of buried towns, forgotten fence

The archaeological evidence

Of generations when time began

Young boy o’ ten, become a man

We send you on, to grasp thy trade

The substance of which life is made

Trade thy *** and wooden chest

Wives will loom and keep the nest

Our homes rest on thy trodden earth

Stones surround thy warming hearth

I write, I read, a leader’s state

O carved letters educate

We shall not settle for any less

Protection called, our high goddess

Settlers Ashore
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Of European descent, from whence they came

Across the borders to settle, re-establishment

Angles, Saxons and Jutes – Anglo-Saxon be known

Conquered lands, such roads have served, that of the Roman Empire

Yet under attack, strong order we lack

Helpless – o’ kingdom cry

As legions left, nations wept

Our production has ceased

O’ Saxons – mercenaries be hired

Will you defend us now?

Picts trouble thee

From ‘worthlessness’, ‘choice nature’ reflect

Anglo warriors now stand abreast

Ruddy remains, Arthur’s battle in vain

Battle of Hastings, charge and maim

A legend’s defeat, as armies retreat to lands afore

O treasured finds, beneath the silt

Fragmented helmet, of skilled design

Corrosion abhor, yet to restore

Tarnished silverware, o’ iron rusts

For much gold lay, retained –unchanged

Grave goods of Sutton Hoo, barrow over thy ship

O’ King be laid?

With objects frayed

Unaware of whetstone wear – we honour thee!

Of features present, of features past

Churches of stone, post-hole home

Tis farming year, with ploughs we break

Prepare thy soil, crops shall thrive

Fatten thy cattle, raise thy calf

Barter thee, present ye half

Commence thy craft, thy potter’s clay

Of antler work and carpentry

Thee be skilled, our peoples free

A Plot in Vain
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Many a flame, brightens the sky

Such events to re-enact

A plot in vain that would underlie

A pre-determined pact

Brought up as a Catholic child

Beliefs that would not wane

The distinct view of Protestants

Reflecting royal reign

The disapproving treatment then

Catholic Priests and all

Of secret church services

Hidden holes – no fall

A venture to the land of Spain

Discover and to fight

A brave and learned soldier

Gunpowder to alight

Plans devised, against the king

Thomas Winter’s plot

Fawkes informed and now assigned

Such tales were not forgot

A secret meet within the Inn

Robert Catesby lead

A gang adjoined as one to swear

Our plans will go ahead

A parliamentary opening

Imminently placed

For barrels rolled into the night

Hidden without trace

A letter sent to Monteagle

Reward for such a warn

Uncovered act, to light a fuse

The truth of which be sworn

Hidden in the cellar below

O’ Guy to now arrest

A plotters display of guilty heads

The ending of their quest

Our Litter, Our World
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Of many a surround, complexities be found

Containers lying moist, a decision or a choice

Yet further on afield, a glance at orange peel

Paper, plastic, food, piles amass of tin

Remnant turning raw, a rotten eyesore

Rustling wind o’ waste, left in sudden haste

The mice can now compete, with litter in the street

Paper, plastic, food, piles amass of tin

Fines there are to pay, a shoddy vast array

The circling of sweeps, creating cleaner streets

A clearer road to pave, recycling can be saved

Paper, plastic, food, piles amass of tin

Creatures here collide, scraps of the roadside

Watchers not around, fly-tipping on waste ground

Yet no-one there to blame, deserted country lane

Paper, plastic, food, piles amass of tin

Hazards in the town, where shops are to be found

The mess that will not fade, nor biodegrade

Danger near the farm, creatures brought to harm

Paper, plastic, food, piles amass of tin

Discarded fishing nets, caught around there necks

Trapped in like a pen, cannot get out again

The choices of today, can create a way

Paper, plastic, food, find the nearest bin!

Plague Presence
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Planetary conjunction, behold catastrophe, o’ trembling earthquake

Afore thy outbreak, for terror has struck – omens of bad luck

Of rats aboard large ships of trade

Black Death, Black Sea, what becometh thee?

Rain of fire be seen, plague-ridden body on board

We have reached thy port, yet to attest, how plague affects

Swelling glands, pain of anguish, rats be driven away!

Your mere presence has brought such decay

As we whip, thy iron-tip, our atonement for sin

Carvened Danse Macabre

Such an illusion – dissolutions thee

Charms of protection, a defensive guard

Twas written, twas seen

O’ comet, striker of the sky, what do you signify?

Pepys can testify

Anger from above, epidemic take hold

Wagons rumble o’er cobblestones

Familiar cries, threepence my dear

Our streets form an open sewer, coins in vinegar, avid memoir

O’ do not tarry, empty thy cesspit

O’ waste

Watchers in haste

Yet beyond the square, our city of London, along the Thames

Statistics ever-rising – bills of mortality

Your curing touch, King healeth thee

O’ silent city, cross be marked

Doors marked red, as peoples fled

Orders for health, examine, oversee, Royal Society

Even physicians flee

Of herbs and spices, no cure for thee

A fire, so great as broken out, thy plague wiped out

As events unfold, we shall retain control

Summer Delight
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Components form a basic need

A plant produced, a healthy seed

Light and warmth, spring water flow

Tranquil air helps plants to grow

The sunshine rays that beam with light

With health, green leaves shall stand upright

Natural cycles won’t evolve

A dark surround, left bare and cold

That light of which dear plants rely

Devoid of light, such plants would die

Tall spindly state, o light shall seek

Epitomises growing weak

Watered fields, roots delight

Nutrient soil, anchored upright

Beneath the earth, a process starts

Up through the stem to distinct parts

Sunshine glare, of natural bliss

Make way photosynthesis

Bring forth a bout of showering

The varied kinds are flowering

Embrace the harvest, water surge

Where leaves and flower buds emerge

Insects travel, pollination

Carried forth, fertilisation

Dispose and scatter seeds below

Create anew, for plants to grow

Coloured petals, a summer breeze

Butterflies and bumble bees

Attractive plant, a keen insect

Solid petals will protect

Sweetest nectar – energy

Exist for bees to make honey

Fundamental Frame

The absence of which, who could withstand?

The evolution thereof corresponds with us

Expansion likewise

Enabler of movement, our fundamental support

Protection for such living things

Joints and muscles – we limber on

Muscle contract, muscle relax

A framework within

Exoskeleton outside

So ribs protect – heart and lung surround

Skull protect – shield the brain

Where two or more join, so joints comprise

A fundamental function

A vital role to play

Solid and strong, yet spongy within

Inner bone marrow – tissue living

Small bones of the inner ear

Larger bones increasing gear

Leg bone, arm bone, rendered to walk alone

High bone, thigh bone, ever so required bone

Tooth Care
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Aligned in place, they changed and grew

A distinct frame to chomp and chew

To rip, to crush, to tear and bite

To process food, determined might

Forward canines made to tear

Bold incisors lessen wear

Solid molars help to crush

Day and night our teeth to brush

A solid set, with aim to grind

The sets of teeth we can but find

Milk teeth formed, of first event

The adult teeth grow permanent

Meat eaters are carnivores

Plant consumers’ herbivores

To brush is not inferior

To balance bad bacteria

Balanced diet, portioned fruit

Brighter teeth, a healthy root

A poorer choice of alcohol

With smoking yet will take its toll

For where leftover sugar lay

An acid forms for tooth decay

Improved choices – don’t delay

Brush and floss teeth twice a day

Dearest Friend
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
When light has ceased to shine

With answers yet to find

When others are unkind

With challenges of mind

To stumble or to fall

When progress starts to stall

When rivers cannot flow

With ebbs that lay shallow

When rendered left behind

No reason or a sign

Deserted unclear place

A yearning to embrace

A friendship to abound

Where fullness can be found

Where none can separate

My heart will elevate

Where I can so rely

Where joyful eagles fly

In awe of such surround

It glistens all around

A trust of which to lend

My dearest ever friend

Sunny Seaside
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Splish splash splish, sunshine bliss

Crashing waves, glistening summer rays

Of days, at the seaside shore

Longing for more, we reminisce

As waves bellow, so we build

Sandcastles on high, quickening sand running over my hand

Slippery stepping stones across oceanic floors

As ‘She’ sets sail, seagulls soar, over the sandy shore

A pool of rock, bucket and *****

Toward the tide and so we wade

Ice-cream dream

Transparent view, starfish slither

We come to a s-t-a-n-d-s-t-i-l-l

Intrigued yet by the wonders of the deep

Sheer radiance

Fetched flip-flops, seaward bound

The zest of life

Cruise the current, row the flow

We drift, we drift

Seaweed and squid

Glancing at the pier, windmill yet afar

Kite shall ride the wind, a break thereupon

Such glee of days

What joy could override

Our sunny seaside

Aboard the Express
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Hop aboard the Express

Coast to coast, city to city, passengers in line

Electric locomotive, powering at speed

Turn about the corner, tilting train along the track

Compartments of the carriage

Synchronized flow, signal – stop sign

Yet a glance behind, dancing of the trees

Horses on the moor

A scenic tour, destination ever-near

Of varied kinds, capacities great and small

Lest we fall, yet with closed eyes we crawl

Make way to the mountain, sloping steep hill

Railway equipped, pinion wheel grip

The fascination a journey entails

Straddling monorail, of columns held upon

Embrace beams above roads

Diesel locomotives, powering gears

Afore times we have known, use of pulling alone

Steam locomotives, signs of the time

Wait in line, aboard the horse-drawn carriage

Pressure, power, steam

Fuel for freight trains, packed with heavy loads

Rolling wagon wheel

Roll-on record breakers, ravishing appeal

My stringy arms I wave and cheer

Yet I have just one small ear

My rounded mouth looks like a ball

My little left foot is so small

My right foot is yet rather big

My fingers are just like a twig

I’m wearing very spotty shorts

My shoes have crosses and noughts

My teeth though crooked always please

I have awesome knobbly knees

There’s many big and many small

Yet each amazing, one and all

Stellar smile, symbolic signs

Travelling loves unwinding road, of paths untold

In victory dance, bold chances took

Of gazes transfixed, a future eclipsed

Distinctive souls, becoming as one

Guided footsteps, of days devoted

Moments noted, pebbled miles

A tender embrace, a solemn vow

Instants captured, a time of now

First words, first steps

Treasures k-e-p-t

Ensemble of togetherness

Verse 1

Like a hummingbird with wings to fly, emerging forward towards the sky

Ever receptive to the dream, for all that you’ve witnessed or ever seen

Much higher than the fall, it’s time to give your all

Set to Rise
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Take me to the distant places

Take me far beyond the sky

To embrace the broad horizon

Where both my wings can fly

Take me to a place of courage

Far beyond a place of fear

To unfold my true formation

Sailing forth to seas sincere

Set to rise with true elation

Former thoughts to unlearn

To discover more within me

A desired truth to yearn

For the place I hold so dearest

Confirmation of a sign

To live my life on purpose

The opened door is mine

A time of bold decision

With discouragement aside

To a land of my victory

With my eyes kept on the prize

On the prize………….

The Truth That I Love You
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Verse 1

Standing in the middle, just unravelling the riddle

Won’t you stay with me a little, I’m lost in time

Resolution ever-ready, indecisions never steady

No I can’t be secondary, just want to make you mine

Chorus

The essence of courage, with leaves swept away

I’m journeying forward, don’t stand in my way

No greater price to pay, it’s not hard for me to say

The truth that I love you

Verse 2

Unfolding revelation, I’ll await anticipation

With a rising elevation, I’m drawn to you

The glowing of your favour and the moments I will savour

I’m not inclined to waver, I will see this through

Chorus

Bridge

Your undivided time is exactly what I’m searching for

With a love to find, of the moments that we met I’m sure

Be acquainted with, the unfading love I’m bringing forth

And I’m so into you

Have Hope

Verse 1

Hope can you feel, it’s kinda stipulated

Hope when its real, I’m feeling elevated, kinda animated, duly inundated

Come and turn around, now it’s time that we really made it

Faith is the key, towards the manifested

Hope and believe, in times we’re really tested

I’m eager interested, a power that is vested

Come and follow me to places that we’ve never rested

Chorus

Time and time and time we’ve got to have hope – yeah

Bring it back to life and it’s got to have scope – ooh yeah

Come and fill my heart with joy and laughter, laughter

Come and fill the sky with praise – oh yeah

Verse 2

Pour into me, a fill of motivation

Come let us hear, a calling generation, a rosy illustration, no upper limit

Come and let me show you what it means to have a celebration

Come dance with me, it’s really necessary

Hope certainty, we’re truly legendary

We’re cheerful bright and merry, we’re always ever ready

Come strike a deal and let us bring the extraordinary

Chorus

Bridge (x4)

Oh we’ve got to have hope yeah

Come bring me that hope yeah

Written by Geraldine Taylor ©
The song entitled 'Have Hope' is a ray of light in a world of complexity and varied trials. Have Hope was written as part of the 'Have Hope' project to help inspire the concept of maintaining hope to people across the world. The song has equally been recorded and performed by a number of musical artists from different hemispheres. In the journey of life, a 'smooth sailing' ride isn't promised, but the persistence to endure in the face of trials is a wholesome practice.

The first verse includes the term 'faith', which requires one to carry belief and confidence in that which has no current physical manifested evidence. The notion of optimism equally comes to mind, as well as to trust that there exists a solution for every problem. To capture positive feelings of joy and to embrace times of laughter are essential concepts within the song, as well as hope being a necessity.

The Other Side of the Road
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Verse 1

If love is what you feel and it’s real

Authentic, bona fide, with true appeal

From high to low emotions on the course

All I’m asking of you, I shall not force

To reach forever more for your hand

Only skies from up above will understand

To walk that open road, towards the dream

Yet my heart will comprehend what I mean

Chorus

And if it’s safe with me, it’s plain to see

The one and only place to build a home

And while you wait and see, if the grass is green

Greener on the other side of the road

Greener on the other side of the road

Verse 2

The readiness to move, the swift reply

The yearning just to feel the my oh my

There’s nothing else to prove, nor answer why

With dedicated thought, I’ll aim to try

The pull, a mighty force, has kept you there

So far away from me, you’re unaware

To render ever still and not be moved

The tainting of my heart, so to sooth

Chorus

Bridge

Oh please tell me, whoever is to know

Destined so to try or forever let me go

That special part of me, was casted to the shore

I’ll surely wait to see, is this forever more

Chorus

Written by Geraldine Taylor ©
The Other Side of the Road is a country song that ties in romance with potential heartbreak. It is not uncommon for individuals at times to regard neighbouring circumstances as more desirable than one's own. It can be as innumerable as the galaxies and stars, as to the outward appearances that can be deemed more favourable. The count of luxury vacations, fashionable clothes, expensive cars and grand properties can all come under the radar of the wandering eye.

In the case of this song, the existing relationship has now come to a crossroads. Two partners are on the verge of making up or breaking up, whereby one feels that the relationship has become dull over time. Instead of re-igniting the original flame, she has now come in view of a more promising venture, in the form of love elsewhere. She is faced with the decision of re-kindling her current relationship, or dropping everything and sticking with a new love conquest. Her partner is keen to re-establish their romance and pick up where they left off, yet the overall choice has been left with her.

Incandescent Flame
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Intro

When there’s nothing to lose, but everything to gain

A journey moving forward, never the same again

To look beyond the shadows, towards a ray of light

Just embrace the midnight, the stars come out at night

Verse 1

There’s nothing to prove, follow authenticity

Surrender the complex, focus with simplicity

Keep that flame burning, resplendence of desire

There’s no better time, to keep on aiming higher

Chorus

A mighty momentous move, just stay in your lane

Be that inspiration, that incandescent flame

A call for boldness, times will ever test

Called and chosen, give your very best

Verse 2

A subtle reaction, rise against the fall

The true satisfaction, the giving of your all

Advancing in harmony, this moment truly yours

An opportune time, the opening of doors

Chorus

Bridge

No substance lost, endeavour to try

Seize every moment, remember the why

Towards the exceptional, no middle road

Be unforgettable, let victory unfold

Written by Geraldine Taylor ©
Incandescent Flame is a victorious song of decision. At the onset, is the realisation of having nothing to lose, but everything to gain. In the pursuit of purpose, comes the quest for meaning to one's journey, which can only add to the fullness of life. The journey hitherto has been likened to shadows and darkness, whereby the concept of venturing beyond safe borders is comparative to light. The act of 'playing it safe' has brought nothing but the mediocre and an empty sense of fulfillment.

The individual desires the simplicity of the boldness to try and surrender previous excuses that have delayed opportunity. If the individual is going to shine as bright as an incandescent flame, then the courage to advance forward, in spite of obstacles and setbacks, would be conducive to greater fulfillment and success. The quest requires the individual to go beyond the ordinary and to settle for no less that they truly deserve

Love Reciprocal
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Verse 1

Two souls complete, let us retreat, to a place where our visions can meet

Captured to stare, none can compare, with true love and war becoming fair

When forces are real, transcending appeal

When there’s no other love I can feel

With time unaware, casting my care

Incomparable romance is there

Chorus

Love reciprocal, that’s intangible

Let us conquer and do the impossible

There’s no part of me, that could ever see

Another true soul claiming our clarity

Just you and me, just you and me

Oh oh oh, just you and me

Verse 2

One cannot describe, how to arrive

To a land where our treasure will thrive

Crossing the verge, beginnings emerge

There’s no other place that I could search

When forces are real, transcending appeal

When there’s no other love I can feel

With time unaware, casting my care

Incomparable romance is there

Bridge (x2)

Let’s do the impossible, embrace love reciprocal

Inscribe the inscribable, let’s do this, let’s do this, inseparable

Written by Geraldine Taylor ©
"Love Reciprocal" is a romantic piece that has been metaphorically written. It is the telling of a love story, whereby two soulmates have come to find each other in their quest for love. A fundamental part of their foundation is that their connection is not merely based upon outward appearance or superficial aspects. There is a greater deepness to their romance, in which their appreciation of each other extends far beyond outward attraction.

Such is the greatness of their romance that they can envision no other soul that could compare to the affection that they share. They understand that their journey will have its trials and fluctuations of emotion, yet they continue in the face of that.

By the second verse, the concept of finding each other is comparatively like the discovery of treasure, which was no easy find, but required a diligent search and a profound vision. The inclusion of the word ‘reciprocal’ is to emphasize the notion that love given should be reciprocated by the other person in a mutual fashion if there is to be a genuine bond. They will continue to inscribe their love with their own personal writings upon the tree of love.

Liberated
Geraldine Taylor Jun 2017
Verse 1

Initiated, when there’s a choice to truly take it

In order to be liberated, gain true identity

When there’s a low road, a higher path is taken solo

It doesn’t matter even how slow, true living is free

Chorus

No matter the forces I see, the invisible right before me

Keep moving and gliding swiftly, liberated, it’s time to be free

All genuine none to conceal, just chasing the joy that I feel

Authentic with goodness is real, liberated, truly liberated

Verse 2

Unrelenting, a core desire with no ending

Distractions don’t require tending, so undeservedly

Uncomplicated, could be as simple as I make it

A dream pursued, even belated, there’s possibility

Chorus

Verse 3

Footsteps, yes I gotta find my own quest

The only way to give my true best, originate and shine

To awaken, to be myself yet unmistaken

All the others they are taken, the opportunity is mine

Chorus

Written by Geraldine Taylor ©
"Liberated" is a song that expresses the personal freedom of having choices in life and the liberation of decision. Within the first verse the individual recognises that their personal quest for a greater sense of freedom may begin alone, yet with the recognition that there will be greater rewards along the way. Comparatively, the individual has come to appreciate the concept of being liberated in comparison to their former experiences. For having experienced degrees of restrictions, confinement and authoritarian limitations whether physically, emotionally, they have come to recognise the difference.

The chorus is connected to the stage of definite decision making, in which the individual has made the choice to no longer allow the past to have reign over her life and future. As the captain of her own soul, she has come to appreciate that she can begin to create her own future and take responsibility for her choices in life.

Within the second verse there is acknowledgment of previous distractions that have had their own ramifications. The emphasis from therein is to no longer allow further distractions to hinder her journey or progress. With the pursuit of any dream one can at times go about their quest with added complications, whereby simplicity would be a beneficial choice. She chooses now to sift out any elements in her life that no longer serve her or help her accomplish her life’s purpose.

Verse 1
There is no distance to travel, to cause a divide, between us
There is no towering mountain that we cannot climb to build trust
Of moments in time, of which are passing away
Yet all the love I possess, grows day after day, yeah

Chorus
Let’s sail away, by the moonlight
Let’s find a way, for us to realise
That we’ll never arrive, we’ll never arrive
So continue to strive, continue to strive
The water will flow, the water will flow
And our love will grow, and our love will grow
Forever and ever and ever and ever

Verse 2
An awesome appearance, impressions that mesmerise
Stood by the river of love, the glance in your eyes
Gratitude given, the presence of living is here
A smooth navigation, a near constellation revere

Chorus

Bridge
There’s an overflow of tranquillity
We are journeying forth with simplicity, yeah
Let’s strive to bring authenticity
For your a shining light to me

Written by Geraldine Taylor ©
"Moonlight" is a mid-tempo love song that expresses the foundational appreciation that one person feels for another. The first verse places emphasis upon the fact that outward circumstances do not come between their existing relationship, including the concept of distance and time passing by. Furthermore the varying changes of their journey have actually strengthened their connection.

The chorus is a metaphorical scene in which their relationship is visualized as sailing away into the distance, away from any distractions and embracing the moments that they share. The concept of ‘never arriving’ is included to emphasize that throughout the journey, as well as their continuing relationship, there will always be room for growth. They have come to realize that they should not become complacent at any stage and continue to strive for their goals individually as well as collectively.

The poetic description of their romance continues into the second verse, in which they are situated on the ‘river of love’ and savoring every moment together. As they journey forth on their quest, they continue to add to the foundation that keeps them together

Let a new age commence, unrest shall now cease

King Henry VII, the bringer of peace

Merchants will travel, trade will now flourish

Descendants of which epitomise courage

A land of writers, a progress of arts

Embedded into the Tudor’s hearts

Embroidered gowns, heads and tales

The elegant wear of farthingales

A Tudor house, a college, a school

Established wealth of Tudor rule

Towns of old, constructed new

Merchants traded, places grew

Refined timber, a solid room

Within the attic, a weaving loom

Wattle and daub, between the frame

A home preserved, set to remain

Furnished halls and window glaze

Estates abound, knot garden maze

Food aplenty, peacock and swan

Iron skewers, with meat upon

Send a fleet, out to defend

A kingdom of which lives depend

Aboard with cannons, Mary Rose

We shall arch with longer bows

Parish churches of the ‘Reformation’

A coat of arms, our declaration

Henry VIII, the Supreme Head

The King’s schools, of which he lead

A ‘Globe’ performance, a Shakespeare show

Shall we stand where ‘groundlings’ go

A theatre set to entertain

Yet monasteries sit in poor remain

Upon thy hill, now let us mount

To thus reflect with fresh account

A prominent history of which to lend

Thy Queen Elizabeth I to end

Written by Geraldine Taylor ©
There's Every Kind of Beautiful is a song of celebration, the essence of which is to advocate personal individuality, as well as diversity. The song acknowledges that each person is unique and beautiful in their own way. The fundamental idea is that each individual should embrace their individuality and seek to become the best version of themselves as opposed to striving to be an imitation of somebody else.

Within the chorus the individual makes a personal decision to no longer place herself in competition with anybody else, but to establish her own self worth. The second verse places emphasis on different physical features and attributes of people, with the recognition that beauty can be found in all.

The accompanying bridge gives reference to the celebration of beauty in all nations, races and creeds. The aim is not to limit the attribution of beauty to just only a few, but to acknowledge humanity at large.

The core beginnings of a noble dream, of what would seem, foundations laid

With skills attained, such talent emerged, yet still submerged in discovery

Become what be, to demonstrate, independence taking shape

Cross-country weather, so partake and so awake receptive minds

A watchful teacher realised, true potential, born to run

Of motivation so begun, the time had come, the race was won

With thoughts aside, the skill, the stride

Set the challenge, pursuits to pick, a desire to run would surely stick

Seeds of inspiration, an opportune time, yet to behold

Set to unfold, to make the grade, the army trade

Demonstrate ability, join adventure, climb the course

Years of service, tested trials, ran the miles and set the pace

A choice to face of prominence, the passion to take precedence

Discovered star, back on track, all set, attack, assume the plan

Full circle to where it all began, go the distance strength and speed

Destiny awaits, kick for home, continue straight, due applause reverberate

Realisation of a vision, go for gold with dynamism

Setbacks seen and overcome, double Olympic champion

A discipline of due success, professionalism ‘be the best’

Focused victory, a mark in history

Accomplished gold with heart and soul

Broken records, broken mould

Along with many 'greats' he has taken his career further than a demonstration of athletic ability. He has incorporated essential balance into his lifestyle and surrounds himself with a supportive team of inspiring individuals.
