Such a disaster
Waking up in the morning
Shamelessly white

Haiku
Self- tanning cream
The pride of looking sporty
The mirror pulls face

Haiku
Deep philosophy
The poet is in deep water
Saved by low tide

Haiku
One types of success
When your work brings happiness
And not endless doubt

Haiku
The loser a man
Who knows he's incompetent
Yet accuse others

The news I read
Been the same for fifty years
War and film stars
in this pasture,
one hundred days past,
scores cheered as the current coursed
through Bundy's body

this evening, I am here,
solitaire, except for my *****,
the cattle, and the fireflies sprinkled
against the night

my spaniel nips
at the flies, but they are quick,
eluding her jaws to perform
a brilliant alchemy again

amidst this spectacle,
cows chew their cud, unperturbed, unaware
it seems, magical lightning comes without
thunder from these creatures

the bovines don't scatter
as I walk among them--perhaps they’ve forgotten
those revelers here on a crisp winter night, eager
to celebrate an extinguishing of light
Serial killer Ted Bundy was executed in Florida in January, 1989. Across the road from the prison was a cow pasture where hundreds celebrated during and immediately following his electrocution.
We are all born,
With just a limited amount.
We never know how much,
We have to give out.

We pray for it to hurry,
When we're young and still learning.
Then we pray for it to slow,
When we're older and now yearning.

We know that it's so very precious,
Because we sell it to the highest bidder.
But what about its true value?
That's what we rarely consider.

This gift we've been given,
It was meant to be shared.
For we cannot make more,
And what's left can't be spared.

It is a currency,
We all spend at the same rate.
But it is also purchased,
Unrefundable, with no discount or rebate.

But what really is most important,
Is to whom we give it for free.
That, my friend, is priceless,
So thank you for spending it with me.
At the risk of egotistically bragging
I love when my poems start trending.
I love knowing when I post a rhyme
That it’s not simply a sort of ending.
It tickles me to see that this one
Will still be in the universe out there
And won’t just be words that slip away;
The world at large isn’t unaware.

I love that so may people like the words
And so often react with love and sharing
Whether my poem is funny, or even sad
And perhaps sometimes extremely daring.
Sometimes it’s because I have written
What has long needed to be said,
And often because I did not leave
Ideas in my path as if they were dead.

Other times, I just take a chance
In the fervent  hope I am conveying
Something brand new and exciting;
Something that really needed saying.
It reinvigorates me to keep on writing
And authorizes what I am feeling.
It boosts up my self-esteem so much
That it sends me senses reeling.

So thank you, my readership all,
And take this sentence seriously,
I read every comment through.
Sometimes I laugh deliriously.
This kind of acceptance from you
Affects me more strongly than a drug.
Please take my heartfelt thanks
And a great big literary hug.

Time is
flexible glass
that reflects our painful past
showing transparent shades
of our better angels
bending to pressure.
If we push forward hard
we break the glass
lose the illusion
of our troubled past
and have a chance
to move on.
How do you sleep at night
All the stuff you did ain’t right
You cheated and you lied
It’s known about far and wide
Every day more comes to light.

How do you hold up your head
You should be ashamed instead
You’re the cause of many quarrels
You have few detectable morals.
Your honesty balance is in the red.

We all know all we get from you
Is promises that won’t come true,
You don’t care about any one else
All the matters to you is yourself.
You’re outrageous trash in all you do.

So how do you live with yourself
As Santa Claus’s very nastiest elf?
Every rule you choose to break
Is based on whatever you can take
Regardless of hurting someone else.

Wishing you bad usually isn’t cool
But in your case I’ll break that rule
Since you so often serve up hate
What you deserve is that same rate.
I’m polite, but I am nobody’s fool.

So, I hope you get exactly what
The people you have cheated got
That you end up with just a stone
And spend your time all alone
With your hopes and dreams all shot.
