Cayley Raven
Rainy day or not
windy, cold or hot
People young and old
careless, scared or bold
yellow, white and black
curvy, slim or fat
full of love or full of hate
the virus don´t discriminate
Tough times ahead of us
Mother bird builds her nest
Sticks, and twigs, and feathered crest
Camouflaged well, for the eggs she protects
All while prepared for whatever comes next

Hidden away high up in the trees
On a thick sturdy branch
surrounded by leaves
She tends to her eggs for whatever they need
And keeps them afar from any sly thieves
While singing love songs with the greatest of ease

Mother bird, she’s soft and clean
Vibrant, yet seldom seen
She clings to her tasks
But still has her dreams
Of all that’s real and make-believe

And if and when her tasks complete
She’ll revel in her ambiguity
Turning something ugly into beauty
And living each day wild and free

Your vision lies
But
your mind has eyes
Poetry challenges you
To use them
And
See reality perfectly clear

i learned that love bites
don’t always mean
‘i love you.’
this was part of a full poem, but i’m editing that and might not post it? so here’s my favorite line that i had in it.

My tongue is strung
On the headlines
A virus sprung
Across coastlines

From China wall
To the earth's span
The bouncing ball
Of bad cells fan

One dug a path
At humankind's
Causing a wrath
Of quarantines

This turn of fate
I pray comes straight
