a mistake she made in telling all*
to that blackmailing gentleman
at any time he may drop the ball
in divulging her secret's pan

to that blackmailing gentleman
entrusting personal data
in divulging her secret's pan
disclosing every cantata

entrusting personal data
without checking out his dodgy side
disclosing every cantata
yep she'd be on a slippery slide

without checking out his dodgy side
where beans were spilled by the gob
yep she'd be on a slippery slide
so many details would easily lob

How great it would be
For you and for me
If we could simply be together
Honest and free

How great it would be
If the world could just see
That we're all human beings
You, them, and me

today is your fifth birthday -
only nobody in the world knows this but me.

the 20th of November -
the death of all your unlived dreams.

happy birthday my little one,
may you rest in peace.

I try so hard to avoid it,
The thoughts of when and why.
What a strange thing to wait for,
This inevitable goodbye.

I prefer to put my focus on,
The joys of the here and now.
Forced not to take for granted,
All that the present will allow.

Knowing this togetherness will end,
Burns deep within my heart.
Dreading such a gloomy day,
The two of us shall finally part.

However, the reality of it is,
We're all looking towards the sky.
Waiting on those final words.
The inevitable goodbye.

I made my way
Through the raging years
To a certain tenderness
And I've known
A grown man's tears
And the agony of emptiness

And in my time
I have done and seen
More than I could stand
But what was then
And wherever I've been
I'm just another tired man

Near the reeking garbage pile
two black cats chanced to mate
in the black of the night
merging with a thousand shadows of the night

Nothing seen,
but two pairs of glistening eyes
and a loud shriek and a whining cry
as if they were in intense pain!

Was it a forced ****
or a prearranged rendezvous of the lovers?
Did I hear a squeal in delight
or a cry in helpless agony?

and it is beautiful
the snow fall making a winter blanket
for all the trees
meanwhile
on the other side of the world
a child in his bed gets his leg blown off
or just dies with nothing but hunger and pain
so I went about hanging lights on the
two evergreens in my yard
and the fake plywood santa
in his sleigh and all eight tiny reindeer
and had a realization again
of a boy and a ******* the streets of downtown Atlanta, Chicago
Detroit, or New York or Daleville
with no home, trying to live out of a small chevy or Ford or
Dodge , while Chevy and Dodge, got government help?
And they have no books , and their mom has bruises and
a broke arm and tries to care for them and cries while they sleep in the backseat and knows she could have done better and
is against the windshield in her hating herself
ashamed with not a bit of hope,
and I sit the star on top of the Tree and the glow lights the lawn and santa
winks in a pattern and Rudolph's nose glows red,
and it is all so beautiful

Traveler
Out of minds
of today
The old haunts
Slip away
Fitting into place
No longer a dread
Nor dismay

Behind the old walls
Where the laughter
Once stalled
A light of luminous minds
Bright and brilliant decline

To rehash the deviation
Of function

And so the shadow
On time remains...
