Fast Forward

Fast forward because life moves on
We turn the page and our chapters born
The winds of change have finally come
Like a cleansing rain or the morning sun

Fast forward because life moves on
We share our hearts and love once more
Old memories fade and new love lasts
We look forward and never back

Fast forward because life moves on
The heart now healed and scars are gone
The future in focus we see the light
A path now taken to a bright new life

Fast forward because life,
Well because life moves on
Fast forward

Carl Joseph Roberts
If you like, forward to a few collections.
there's the cancer and
then there are all the ism's
***-ism
colonialial-ism
rac-ism
we know them
the ones we all have a stance on
and they're all different.
(recognize conquer and divide when it's in front of you)
but they are only the
symptoms of the cancer
I thought I would fight for them
and raise my daughter to, too.
now I understand
knowing how to clean water
and build basic buildings
are the skills we need
first

all these isms deflect
from our united light
experience here, fully supported
by the orchestra of sound. it's
what happened when we
stopped roaming the Earth.
stuff began to appear
I imagine the first steps were
a roof and food and water storage

somewhere soon began the unconscious (I trust in intention)
attack of the chromosomal female
lineage and all it's power
and wisdom of this universe
and beyond!
(Awww My Raaz)

Slowly began the,
yes, we have to be real,
systematic degradation of the soil.
then the species began to decrease,
a few in betweens,
and we're here.

Hello Poetry - how sweet your option is
to send the words out
that are making me quiver
to be a giver of myself
whether understood or
Not...
that doesn't matter.

I am having a hard time
falling asleep this last week
and the suckling baby is not
the only reason
I feel myself mentally heaving
you see I think I'm actually
successfully breaking up with
my brain
I think it's calling out for
assistance.
its using it's visions
and the birthright wisdom
of life
to spew words from my fingers
a new place
a new space
but I'm no fragile writer
I've beat the soul of
most of my beasts
and lived to tell it.
so I'll tell it
and swell for it
and spell it out
LaNita is my real name
and yo! my mom just checked me out!

A piece of you
Reflecting back
The bitter words in your mouth
Too raw to speak
A poet is
Someone in pain
And someone in love
Someone who looks at the world
Through a kaleidoscope
Who takes a magnifying glass to each
And every
Word you say
And lets them imprint on their heart
A poet is
A star gazer
A dreamer
A chaser of
The improbable
But hopes anyway
A poet is
Tissue paper skin
A heart of glass
And a soul of titanium

A poet is
A sharp tongue
And a gentle kiss
She is a sob
He is a sigh
A poet is
The sun at midnight
Bright and
Burning
Hot
Alive
But cloaked in a darkness
They cannot shake
The brightest day
And the darkest night
A poet is
The human experience
A paradox
An oxymoron
So complicatedly
Simple

A poet is
A lover
Who refuses
To stop wearing their heart on their sleeve
No matter how much it bleeds
But rolls them up
So you can’t see
The blood stains

Is Poetry
I crave you like a cigarette and I just as equally want to burn you.
Smoking is an addiction of poison that will waste you away and acid drenched flowers will grow from your ribcage. But I assure you, I'd rather turn my lungs to ash than ever be kissed by the putrid lips of love.
Have you heard of the little dance,
The dance, moonlight and candlelight share?
They dance to the rhythm,
The rhythm to earth’s air.

The moonlight stirs up a wave,
Stirs up tides of passion,
It calls forth sensual howls,
A confident assertive expression.

The candlelight on the other hand,
Dances a different dance,
It dances of concealment,
a dance of graceful stance.

The moonlight dances with me
Shows me the way in my dark
The candlelight dances with me
Shows me the way in my dark

Have you heard; heard about the dance?
The dance of the candle, the dance of the moon?
They share this little dance, the dance of their glow
The dance of the light, upon us they show
They dance to the rhythms,
The rhythms of earth.

Have you heard; heard about the dance.
Thoughts in time and out of season
The Hitchhiker stood by the side of the road
And leveled his thumb
In the calm calculus of reason.

Hi. How you doin’?

I just got back into town,

L.A.

I was out in the desert for awhile

“Riders on the storm”

Yeah. In the middle of it

“Riders on the storm”

Right…

“Into this world we’re born”

Hey, listen, man, I really got a problem

“Into this world we’re thrown”

When I was out on the desert, ya know

“Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan”

I don’t know how to tell you

“Riders on the storm”

but, ah, I killed somebody

“There’s a killer on the road”

No…

“His brain is squirming like a toad”

It’s no big deal, ya know

I don’t think anybody will find out about it, but…

“take a long holiday”

just, ah…

“Let your children play”

this guy gave me a ride, and ah…

“If you give this man a ride”

started giving me a lot of trouble

“Sweet family will die”

and I just couldn’t take it, ya know

“Killer on the road”

And I wasted him

Yeah.
